After looking back at Man Utd game against chelsea and our league performance this season, i realised one thing. We crucially need one creative midfielder rather than a prolific striker or another defender.  Someone that resemble young scholes in his 20. This is what we have been lacking for some time now.
*
yup... i dont know about others but i do feel we need one there. we just cant rely on scholesy all the time, we need to move on but for me, i do have high hopes on ando and gibson to do the job... just ando need to improve his shooting (his passing, sometimes its really nice to see) and gibson need to improve his passing / vision (just please dont simply shoot although that's his most priced asset) so if we cant get one, why dont we develop them, i believe we already have the ready-made replacement here

i still have firm believe by using technology will destroy the beatiful live game... by using replay technology, there will be aa lot of intereference in the game. kejap kejap berhenti, tengok replay, lepas tu denied. lepas tu protest, tgk replay pulak.

and by using replay technology, it will invite another sucky part of modern sports... IKLAN!!!
*
yup but i seriously think they can implement the technology to a minimal extent, like the goal-line technology and watching the replay ONLY restricted to the 4th official and not anyone else. then he will inform the ref about the situation (if only the 4th official is true to his words tongue.gif) without stopping the match / disruption... its a quick replay isnt it... its just all depends whether FIFA and UEFA can accept those ideas... ish

ROONEY GIVEN 40% CHANCE OF FACING BAYERN

Wayne Rooney is reported to have a 40% chance of making a shock return to action in this week's Champions League tie against Bayern Munich.

The striker's sprained ankle is believed to be recovering far quicker than previously expected and he could yet feature against the Germans on Wednesday despite officially being ruled out of action for "two to three weeks" after being injured in last week's first-leg tie.

According to The Guardian, 'Rooney has responded well to treatment and could be in line for a surprise recall to Sir Alex Ferguson's squad if he comes through a training session today.

'Ferguson will not risk the England forward if there is a chance of aggravating the injury further and last night United's medical staff attempted to play down the chances of a comeback by only rating his chances of playing as "40%".'

The surprise, however, is that his chances have been rated as high as 40% and the disclosure has prompted a number of newspapers to predict he will be named in United's squad.

'Ferguson and Rooney are quietly hoping he will be fit to make a sensational return at Old Trafford and increase United's chances of progressing to the semi-finals,' reports The Daily Mail, while The Daily Mirror says that Rooney is 'poised to return' after making 'amazing progress'.

GARY NEVILLE - FATIGUE NOT A FACTOR

Gary Neville does not believe tiredness will be an excuse for failure against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Manchester United must bounce back from their shattering loss to Chelsea at the weekend and beat the German giants at Old Trafford if they are to avoid a quarter-final elimination from the Champions League.

Not having the distraction of Europe has been cited as one of the more obvious reasons why Chelsea were the superior side on Saturday, with even Sir Alex Ferguson admitting his troops were "leggy".

Having performed equally poorly in Germany last Tuesday, when United surrendered an early lead and Wayne Rooney succumbed to the ankle injury that Ferguson has said will keep him out of the decider, it could be argued United's arduous season, that included February's Carling Cup triumph over Aston Villa, is having a major effect.

But Neville is having none of it.

"We are more used to playing Wednesday-Saturday than having free weeks," said the United skipper.

"I don't think it becomes a telling factor.

"Sometimes when you get a free week you can find yourself wondering what to do with yourself because you are so used to playing.

"We are happy to be playing the big games and being in Europe. We have a big squad as well, so the manager may freshen things up.

"We are fine with where we are at."

Although Dimitar Berbatov has been criticised for his failure to snaffle a difficult late chance on Saturday that would have given his side a draw and kept them in charge of the championship chase, unless Rooney makes an unexpected recovery, the Bulgarian will again carry United's attacking hopes.

Clearly, the loss of Rooney adversely affected the Red Devils at the weekend.

But they performed badly with their 34-goal talisman in the team against Munich and the recent defeat at Everton proved even Rooney is not immune from disappointing performances.

Neville will certainly not be lamenting Rooney's absence, as he insists United have the strength in depth to cope.

"The successful teams are usually the ones that have the most money and the biggest squads, and we believe we have a big enough and talented enough squad to cope with the fixtures," Neville told the Sunday Times of Malta.

"If we don't we will have to live with it."

hopefully it's LIES LIES LIES!

LiteFM said he will. probably on the bench... but its all lies... their news are 1 day later but for once, i hope he's not playing tonight because not worth the risk... IF we destined to <touch wood> this match, so be it and i dont want wazza to suffer the side effect and we still have 5 more BPL matches to play

tonight i think the flanks will be nani and park... bayern 2 wingers can swap position anytime so we need park so neutralize 1 of them since he can run the whole match... i choose nani because i felt he's defending is better than valencia... giggsy should play behind berba as he too can help out fletch and carrick (i know but no choice but to choose carrick over scholesy - had enough) in the midfield as bastian.s (dont know how to spell his name) is back together with van bommel...

actually for Chelsea first goal, its not just Gary's fault... in fact it was fletch and rio both were slow to track malouda down... Gary was tracking zhirkov on the flank where fletch was slow in tracking malouda down and when he was in the box, rio was too slow in closing down malouda thinking fletch was on him but fletch back down all of a sudden thinking rio will come over and close him down instead, lost of communication there

but anyway, let that match died down, we look forward to tonight's match, i still think gary will start instead of rafael. he got more exp just hope he's performing well tonight... he already used to nail down those flying wingers isnt he ? hehehe let's hope he got that form back just for tonight biggrin.gif

Man United vs Bayern Munich - Key Battles

Man United vs Bayern Munich Key Battles

We pick out some of the key one-on-ones to look out for in the crunch game between Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

Rafael Da Silva (Manchester United) vs Franck Ribery (Bayern Munich)

With Sir Alex Ferguson opting for youth before experience, Rafael will replace Gary Neville as the man to man-mark Ribery. The Frenchman was all over Neville in the first half of the first leg - running the veteran into the ground with his pace and trickery on the flank.

Rafael's stamina will give United a huge advantage, but the youngster will have to curb his penchant for going on attacking runs and leaving wide open spaces behind him.

If the past is anything to go by, Rafael hails from the Paul Scholes School of tackling - and he'll have to be very careful not to go in stabbing with his leg when Ribery is in and around the penalty box.

Michael Carrick (Manchester United) vs Mark Van Bommel (Bayern Munich)

Carrick will likely replace Scholes, who played the full 90 minutes in the first leg. The younger midfielder will be up against the highly experienced Van Bommel. The Dutchman was relatively quiet in the first leg except for one exhilarating run which culminated in Edwin van der Sar having to make a brilliant save.

However, the Bayern captain is incredibly versatile - capable of stemming opposition attacks as well as setting forth his team on the counter. Carrick will have to shadow him all over the pitch to make sure the indefatigable Van Bommel does not dominate the midfield.

Dimitar Berbatov (Manchester United) vs Martin Dimichelis (Bayern Munich)

Berbatov looks lazy. But some people think he does it to lull the opposition into a false sense of security. It might be sacrilege to say this - but on his day the Bulgarian is probably as good as Rooney in front of goal.

For his part - Dimechelis looked like the court jester in the majestic Allianz Arena during the first leg. His clumsy slip allowed Rooney to sneak in for the opener and the defender was constantly caught out of position from crosses and long balls. While he will most likely not have to deal with the all-action Englishman this time, Berbatov can make shaky defenders wish they had never been born. --> haha i like this sentence biggrin.gif

The Argentinean will have to be on the lookout for the clever flicks, lobs and nutmegs that Berbatov has made a living out of.

oik brother !! you better go touch the biggest WOOD you can find now and touch it ok ? whistling.gif

ok dont talk about the match, we go OFF TOPIC again ---> Torres: I want Arsenal to win!

QUOTE
Liverpool striker Fernando Torres is hoping Arsene Wenger's men can lift the Premier League trophy this season.

Arsenal are currently in third position - three points behind leaders Chelsea and one behind Manchester United.

The Gunners however have the easiest run of the three going into the final five matches of the season. Realistically however, they need to make up four points on Carlo Ancelotti's men because of the Blues' vastly superior goal difference.

This makes the Wenger's team to be outsiders for the title, but Torres is hoping they can pull it off.

Speaking to French TV, the ace-striker said:"I want Arsenal to be the champions. They have the best fixtures of the three."

The Spaniard revealed himself to be ad admirer of Wenger and the style of play he promotes, saying: "Wenger deserves to walk away with the title. He should be imitated for the work he has achieved over all these seasons."

Arsenal have two tricky encounters against Tottenham and Manchester City. Manchester United have to play these teams as well as Stoke while Chelsea have tricky games against Liverpool, Spurs and Stoke.

The complete run-in for the three title contenders:

Chelsea: Bolton (H), Spurs (A), Stoke (H), Liverpool (A), Wigan (H).

Manchester United: Blackburn (A), Manchester City (A), Spurs (H), Sunderland (A), Stoke (H)

Arsenal: Spurs (A), Wigan (A), Manchester City (H), Blackburn (A), Fulham (H)

now go and make us proud... defeat chelsea and scrap some pride for you team biggrin.gif

QUOTE
FERGUSON: NO CHANCE OF ROMA REPEAT

Sir Alex Ferguson will not be dredging up the memory of Manchester United's seven-goal destruction of Roma three years ago to inspire his team to victory against Bayern Munich tonight.

That astounding 7-1 success remains the only time United have successfully overturned a first-leg deficit since the Champions League was launched in 1992.

The first-leg scoreline then was 2-1 too, so there are obvious parallels for Ferguson to draw.

But the performance on that never-to-be-forgotten evening was so staggering, the United boss cannot see any point in using it as a motivational tool.

"I haven't thought about the Roma game," he said.

"They were probably equal to what Bayern are now in terms of ability and it was one of those performance you hope you could see every week. But you don't.

"It was a once-in-a-lifetime European performance. The scoreline suggests that.

"The thing is to make sure the performance level is good. That makes a difference to the supporters and the players' belief and confidence.

"From there we can start gathering ourselves again."

A tough task will be made even harder if Wayne Rooney is not available to play some part.

The United teamsheet will be eagerly awaited an hour before kick-off given the slightly mixed message on Rooney that Ferguson delivered in his pre-match press conference.

Although the United boss claimed last Friday that the 34-goal striker would be missing for between two and four weeks with the ankle injury he suffered in the last minute of the first-leg defeat to Bayern last Tuesday, rumours surfaced pretty quickly that Rooney could be in action far quicker than that.

Ferguson did at first reject the notion of an appearance in the return outright, insisting Rooney had "no chance" of being involved.

However, within seconds, Ferguson was tempering his words slightly, saying he didn't "think" Rooney would be on the bench, before adding that he expected the 24-year-old to try and change his mind.

Any chance, however slight, of Rooney being involved, will be seized upon by supporters desperate for some good news at the end of a dismal week that will see their European aspirations brought to an end by Bayern unless United can overturn the deficit.
