well actually, kapok are meant to be used with nylons. but those cheap manufacturer slap steel strings on them by default because nylons are hard to keep in tune if it's new(stretchable).

kapok brand don't have truss rod. without a truss rod, it's impossible to lower the action and thus, it'll be really hard to play with steel strings. especially soloing. get some nice nylons and put it on your kapok and it'll play better. and yes, the neck width at the nut WILL accommodate nylons because it's actually using a classical measurement(not 42-43mm like most acoustic).
