I have Samsung 32B350 32in LCD TV, now i wanna replace my pioneer DV 595k dvd player because it suck badly and no HDMI output and only 480 or 576p Through Component out only.

Here's the list of my choice:-

[1] Philips DVP 3360K (has HDMI output and video upscaling and Divx 6.0 and Ultra)
[2] Samsung DVD-1080P8
[3] Samsung DVD-1080PK

please help me to choose and is the Philips DVP 3360K any good? because many shop says it out of stock, and it need to wait bout few days to week and is it has a very good picture through HDMI upscaling?

man you gotta help me out..

Thank you very much!!

Regard
Tommy

Not a brilliant move getting Philips DVD player.

Any of those Samsung models would do , also depends on your budget too.

How much are those DVD player? IF it's in the 3-400 range, why don't just add a lil to get the Philips Bluray player (which still can play DVD) at RM480?

I agree with overfloe, blu-ray players are cheap nowadays. Why not just add another 100 - 150 , get a Blu-ray player instead..

BDP is the way to go......

There are some pretty good entry level BD players out there i.e. Pioneer or Sony

What models are the Sony and the Pioneer? The problem with having a BD player is the cost of the BD disc, even the ahem ones from Amcorp Mall. DVD's are still cheaper unless you are very concerned about the video quality. Alternatively you can buy a HD media player and download all the movies you want or "exchange" titles with friends. Much cheaper. rclxms.gif

Check with the shop itself if they are providing you a in box HDMI cable. Probably you can ask for one as free gift brows.gif

If you have tons of DVD's then it make sense to have a DVD player that upscales unless you want to convert all of them to play on a media player. Each option has it pros and cons and finally it depends on your main usage. Or get both to have the best of both worlds. rclxm9.gif Most HDMI players (DVD or media player) now comes with a HDMI cable boxed in or the shop will give you one free since now you can get one for only RM25 or so. BTW, there is now the Philips BDP3560 DVD player (up from the 3360 that sells at the same price, RM299 at Carrefour) that can record karaoke on MP3 via the USB so if you are a karaoke fan, it is great. I don't see any other DVD player at this price range having this fun function. rclxms.gif

Sorry, the Philips DVD player at RM299 is DVP3560 not BDP3560 (typo lah!!) so it is not a BluRay player just an upscale HDMI DVD player.
