Hi Guys,

I am searching high and low for a NAD PP2 phono stage. So far i have called A&L and looked at shops in Pertama complex. All do not have stock and will only be in 1-2 months. Anyone know where else to try?

Anyone want to sell off there Phono stage ???

I think I saw one at Amcorp Mall..Mr Lim's shop Acoustic Systems..but I think a better bet would be the Cambridge Audio 540P (mm input only) 2nd floor upstairs at Audio Synthesis. There's also a Rotel RQ-970BX phono, I think you don't want to know the price and I know its not much better than NAD. Only a nice casing, nothing more.
I don't have a good opinion of NAD phono too, its just ordinary budget phono, nothing more.
Trouble is, they use cheapest opamps and poor power supply which will limit its potential severely. Rotel has good PSU but some design flaws. Maybe you should approach Little Ghost to build you one with better grade opamp. The circuitry is simpler than a headphone amp with a bunch of capacitor resistor network into the feedback.

Thanks, Man I will visit Amcorp today hope to find it.

Yes NAD is budget but thats exactly what i am looking for "Budget". Will give Little Ghost a shout on this...

Guess What, Just came back and you are spot on he had two at stock. Got it as A&L mentioned it will be only early March when the new stock arrives. The price was a tad bit more but after taliking to him it was RM 10 more within the range quoted by A&L and Pertama Audio.

Looked at the second floor but Audio Synthesis was closed. Enquired from the shop next to Mr. Lims (cannot remember the name) Cambridge Audio 540P was almost 45-50 % more and out of Stock.

Mr. Lim did recommend Pro-Ject but again price was 45-50% more of NAD's PP2.

So happy, Got the phono stage now for some LP's...

Does any shop in Amcorp have LP sales through out the week?

gsdev,

How much is the NAD PP2? I believe the Pro-Ject Phono Box II can't possibly be 45%-50% more than that. Even if it were true, it would amount to RM100 more, which would be worth it with better build & sound quality.

I last cleared my Phono Box II stock at RM350 & it is the rock bottom price.

hifi4sale.blogspot.com

Contact Eugene @ Audio Matic (in between Mr. Lim's & the Cambridge Audio shop), 012-3222698. He may have 1 or 2 units of Pro-Ject left. Again, shoot for RM350, which is the lowest price, so don't attempt to try lower.

Hi wkfoong,

Yes you are right, the price mentioned to me is RM 500 for the Pro-Ject Phono Box II, if i would have bargain i believe i would have got max RM 100 off but likely only RM 50. So the price range was between Rm 400-Rm 500.

Your price is definetly Rock Bottom prices and i believe no one will give that price, don't forget the warranty from you is only 3 months not 1 year.
In my case i am starting out on TT and am not sure how serious it will get. So a budget Phono Stage was what i was looking for and i got it for RM 300. The PP2 got good reviews compared to the price, more over the rest of my stuff are NAD, TT is Elac Miracord 770H.

Thanks for the feedback.
