Just back from Byond PVR launch. AXN HD and FOX HD is confirmed on 16th June with one Chineese Channel (can't remember). The installation fee for Byond PVR is RM400 (Rm300 if you give your old decoder) and they will charger you RM10/mth for the recording servive. For existing Byond subscriber, you can use external HDD (only WD HDD is compatible so far) with minimum Rm5/mth but you can only record 1 program at one time instead of 2 with Byond PVR. Byond PVR comes with 500GB internal HDD.

wah... thanks for the good info!
HDD need to buy from Astro or own HDD??

You can buy your own HDD but so far only WD Pasport 320GB is compatible with current Byond decoder (thats is what Astro guy told me). Once you got the HDD, just call Astro and ask them to activate the PVR service for Rm5 monthly.

You mean from PVR HDD > other HDD hooked on? hmm.gif
*
I mean, if you using external HDD for recording, maybe it is possible to transfer the recorded contents into another HDD and play it on another Byond decoder.

Can playback on PC too? hmm.gif
*
No sure about that. They might be using some kind of recording format which suits with Byond OS, but since Byond was running on Linux, I guess some one will come up with a program which enable us to playback the content on PC.

is it current b.yond box also can record? i am sorry because i don really understand what it mean on RM10 and RM5 charge..
*
All the info that you need is on 1st page. Yes, you can use your existing byond to get the recording service but you need to buy an external USB HDD. Then you just need to call Astro and ask them to enable the recording service and they will charge you Rm5 monthly. The RM10 monthly charges if you opt for new Byond PVR decoder which comes with 500GB internal HDD.

I've a question, have a friend who wants to install byond. He currently does not have sports packages.
Does it mean that he won't be getting Supersport HD and ESPN HD? Thanks.
*
Yes, he won't be getting the Sports HD package. He need to subscribe to Sports package in order to enjoy the Sports HD channels.

*
IF you take Byond PVR box, you will have to pay RM300 to the installer but you must return back your old decoder to them. Rm10 will be charged into your monthly bill together with RM20 for Byond HD service.
