from the yamaha amp user manual, you must next set your yamaha amp's sound mode to auto or digital
QUOTE(yamaha manual)
If you play a source encoded with a DTS signal and set
the input mode to ANALOG, this unit may reproduce
the noise of an unprocessed DTS signal. In this case,
connect the source to a digital input jack and set the input mode to AUTO or DTS.

im not sure what u mean by true 5.1 surround. for me nor sd channel i can hear from my rear speaker even for tv3suku. using prologic II from my avr (pioneer vsx 1019) for hd channel it will auto switch to Digital which have full 5.1(sub+center and rear).

Wat u hear for TV3 for example is what your AVR gave u but what u get from beyond say NGC its 5.1 for which u need a coaxial connections and beyond settings to 5.1. If u use 5.1 on Beyond settings ther wl be no sound for Hd channels on the TV once ur AVR is switched off.True 5.1 on beyond is only fron HD channels icon_rolleyes.gif

Did you remember to change the input to MD/CD-R? Because that's where the digital signal input is going to play in.

Got it. It is now working in great Dolby sound quality after changing the input to "MD/CD-R Auto" mode in my yamaha AVR.

Thanks all. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

maybe the sources itself..
not all sources on HD channels are in HD and 16:9, especially for History HD..
sometimes they just upscale it and if they stretched the 4:3 videos, it will become more worse....

I suspect its software / firmware issue. Not the remote i guess , i maybe wrong ..just a guess.

I have the similar issue everytime i shut and turn on the next day. Also i noticed the press once it doesnt work, once shut , the channel turns on automatically.

The remote seems to be a little sensitive with the hard touch. Must handle softly like a baby i guess.. blush.gif

HD channel on Measat 3 (all): 14
HD channel on Measat 3a (all): 10

Either next HD channel lineup were taken on remaining channel. smile.gif

I think it a byond remote problem because i got no problem if I use my yamaha AVR remote to turn off my tv.
Sadly byond remote cannot control volume on my yamaha AVR. cry.gif

just to share with regards to 3D:

Samsung issues 3D TV warning

Television viewers will soon be able to watch sport and films in 3D format, but a stark safety warning issued by the world’s largest TV maker may turn some would-be buyers from the technology.

Samsung Electronics said in a long safety guideline on its website that viewers of 3D TV could suffer epileptic seizures and strokes.

It also said sleep deprivation or consumption of alcohol while watching 3D programmes could be unsafe. The South Korean company said on its Australian website pregnant women and the elderly should avoid the 3D function, and children and teenagers were more susceptible to health risks.

So this maybe a reason why astro not broadcast world cup in 3D. laugh.gif

Yes, it's normal. Astro has lowering volume level for HD channel, or maybe SD channel too.
Previously, HD channel is louder than SD, then they normalize it.
Now i felt they lowering a bit more because now normal volume level for my ears is 25, previously 20/21. Or something wrong with my ears  biggrin.gif
Above explanation is for HDMI connection only. Note that you can't change volume level for digital signal, that's why you need to change volume at your TV.
Signal Quality doesn't affect volume level.
*
Talking about volume levels, the NHL advertisement on Nat Geo HD channel is extremely LOUD! And it seems that it is only loud on Nat Geo HD and not on the other HD channels.

Astro, pls fix this!! It's extremely annoying and gets on my nerves. mad.gif

If using HDMI use your TV remote to control your AVR .DONT use Beyond remote to control the TV its very irritating it cannot do a perfect job xcept to control the beyond box. hmm.gif It usually goes to TV channel one each time you turn off your TV!!! NGC is loud and give a cinematic experience cos its ORIGINAL 5.1, its always full screen not like the rest

If i'm not mistaken, AVR stands for Audio Video receiver...
It was the amplifier, DD, DTS Encoder, and can upscale video also....
