Is it true that when you're cooling the satellite LNB with hydrogen, you'll be better reception?

QUOTE(AjkR06 @ Apr 15 2010, 11:35 PM) where you heard of that??? Cooling of LNB to improve reception performanceI don't think so.. because LNB does not generate so much heat (or maybe not at all) compared to computer Processor.... |

Finally, I'm Beyonder
I just leave it on for almost 10 hours straight without any cooler, try to "warm" this guy up Yes, it's real hot underneath it.... The installer use the 20m new cable come with the package, luckily it's just nice and no need to extend further. After the new disc & decoder installed, took him 2min to configure signals, then wait for another 10min and walla ..... ACTIVATED ... that was fast !! - I'm rather surprised to see the size is so small, half of the previous! - I leave it on from 1pm until now still running without any cooler and yes, it's REAL hot underneath it! - So far no signal interruption, may be still new - The HD is really impressive, just like DVD quality - For SD, overall better than the old decoder, but it seem like there are few channels even clearer ... may be I'm blur after so many hours ... will check & re-confirm again. So far very happy, still got the excitement However, I noticed: 1. The boot-up time is quite long, almost 2min, is it normal? 2. The sound seem to be rather weak. Previously I only use around level 20~23 on my TV, but now I have to increase to almost 32~35 for same level of listening, I also tried the following but till the same: - adjust the Byong volume to maximum - audio setting = Stereo (Analogue+Digital) - change HDMI cable and try on different HDMI inputs on TV 3. Each time power off and on again, the last volumn level setting on the decoder gone again, then have to maximise again.... Does anyone has the above issues ? I applied B'yond through cam40729 @ http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1358625 He submitted for me on Monday and now up & running, all within 4 working days only, pretty fast I must say ! |

QUOTE(mhn21 @ Apr 16 2010, 12:08 AM) Just got my byond too. I think component video is for SD only but give more sharper than the normal Composite video.Question: When i use component video I cant go into the hd settings is it? I only can go into the hd settings if i'm using HDMI? Of course HD is the best since it is using HDMI cable which is mean for HD for High Definition!!!! You see, there is a "HD" in HDMI there? right? |

Actually, from your problem here, I suspect that you still not calibrate your Byond remote with your TV.... The volume control that you're using now only works when u connect your audio to analog stereo out (the red and white RCA cable)... If u use HDMI, it's more easier actually, you can calibrate your remote to control your tv volume, mute your tv, change input sources and on/off your TV... For how to calibrate your byond remote with your TV, simply refer to your Byond User Manual... You need to make sure first what brand of TV that you're using, and program your remote by entering the code that available on the byond user manual.... And, why you change your HDMI cable?? It supposed to work correctly since HDMI is digital signal... see, when u change your HDMI cable also the volume control still not have solved... Maybe you don't calibrate your remote with your tv... try it now.... BTW, are you sure that byond HD channel PQ was in par with DVD PQ... I think, it should more than DVD standard.... Anyway, Enjoy your Byond... finally you can see the difference now.... Added on April 16, 2010, 12:16 am QUOTE(klseet @ Apr 16 2010, 12:14 AM) Signal level afternoon was about 175 now at night about 201 hmm.. for me it's consider a bit weak...Signal quality seem unchanged BER 0.0E-7 Is this considered weak or average ? since for my average, I can get about 210 to maximum 216 sometimes.... Will signal get affected if there are also many Astro & B'yond discs around my neighbours? My area here all got Astro, some 2, this afternoon I saw at least 3 B'yond discs just few houses away..... hope not because of this ... This post has been edited by klseet: Apr 16 2010, 12:30 AM |

My byond signal has been with this signal of 241 to 244 since the installer set it up for me from last month. But there are some in this forum mentoned that they have better signal, more than 250. Right? For those with signal more than 250, please identify yourself, see how many are you have this signal of more than 250. This post has been edited by victorwan: Apr 16 2010, 12:44 AM |

After going through the manual on how to setup Byond controller for TV, it's actually come with some pre-set TV remote controller codes. I think it's a bit troublesome, even the correct code work, it can only control very basic functions.
That's why I used this to learn & map all remote controllers: http://www.chunghop.com/en/products_view.asp?id=137 http://www.chunghop.com/en/products_view.asp?id=313 So I just hold 1 remote controller for TV, Byond, DVD, Aircon ...... Added on April 16, 2010, 1:10 amSo does any B'yonders have the sound level a bit low issue? Is it because of signal quality ? This post has been edited by klseet: Apr 16 2010, 01:10 AM |

I wish Astro would improve on these two issues: turning on the TV automatically when using a HDMI connection (how BDs and PS3s do it) and having three tuners inside future B.yond box (two to record, one to watch). fuad |

QUOTE(klseet @ Apr 16 2010, 01:06 AM) Yes, it's normal. Astro has lowering volume level for HD channel, or maybe SD channel too. Previously, HD channel is louder than SD, then they normalize it. Now i felt they lowering a bit more because now normal volume level for my ears is 25, previously 20/21. Or something wrong with my ears Above explanation is for HDMI connection only. Note that you can't change volume level for digital signal, that's why you need to change volume at your TV. Signal Quality doesn't affect volume level. |
