QUOTE Aiyah, I thought I miss-out something HOT for the past 2 weeks .... I wonder what type of home insects that you saw until you can feel to vomit... Never mind la, let's chit-chat more .... so hopefully like the "BluRay" topic, which has just hit 100 pages and now V7 threat hmmmm, don't know what "Blue" disc can talk until like that May be we should start more detail on those HD channels in detail ... let start with the NatGeo HD..... This evening, after watching so very detail & so very enlargement on those home insects, my wife was so surprised why I suddenly eat so little, somemore with green face Bloody hell, those insects are soooooo real, never in my life see so fine detail, really feel like vomit Not bad for a weight-loss program I bet, that's must be cockroaches or rats? isn't it? QUOTE(klseet @ May 5 2010, 12:36 AM) Those cockroaches skin kilat-kilat one like after polishing, and those hairy legs .... so detail that I didn't know cockroaches can be so "handsome" looking Oh My God! Now look at my bed also feel a bit uneasy after soooooo detail magnifying those bed bugs ..... Anywhere, it's really awesome, truly HD experience man! yes, just like their slogan " EXPERIENCE LIKE NEVER BEFORE " and some more "I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW".. Now, you have "experienced" it and see the cockroaches skin and their hairy legs very very clearly until you cannot eat and always think about that.... QUOTE(dannychen @ May 6 2010, 01:30 PM) [SIZE=7]Astro exploring more targeted advertising using set-top box data OMG!!!! Tags: advertising | Astro | Astro B.yond high-definition Written by Kathleen Tan Thursday, 06 May 2010 00:00 ASTRO is exploring the possibility of providing more targeted advertising solutions for its clients based on audience and measurement data from its set-top boxes. Speaking at Astro’s Future of Advertising industry event on April 30, Henry Tan, Astro chief operating officer of strategy, content and marketing, said that the current audience measurement system did not accurately reflect and measure the performance of multi-channel providers such as Astro, as it was “designed in an era of free-to-air (FTA) television and favours FTA TV stations”. “We are prepared to invest but we need a fairer system to accurately measure TV viewership in a multi-channel environment — a measurement tool that is robust and ready for how TV viewing has changed in Malaysia. Without numbers, the media plan can’t win the battle of scrutiny,” he said. Asked if Astro would charge for the audience measurement data, Tan said Astro had no immediate plans or details on the implementation of the technology or the terms of usage for the audience measurement data. He added that Astro was currently focusing on its soon-to-be launched personal video recorder and video-on-demand services. Tan said Astro would be launching its personal video recorder or digital video recorder (DVR) services this month, followed by video-on-demand services later on. It launched Astro B.yond high-definition (HD) services in December last year. He said Astro had the ability to fuse all data sources into data insights — “who is watching what, when, at which address and what their shopping habits are”. However, media agencies, while welcoming Astro’s new initiative, expressed concern that the audience measurement data services would be offered at a premium. “While the initiative is a positive one for the ad industry, media agencies’ profit margins are currently under pressure, hence the concerns of additional overhead costs in obtaining new audience measurement data,” said Vizeum Malaysia CEO Andy Miller in a phone interview yesterday. I think, this new DVR was mix of Byond and Astro max... It should can receive HDTV + 2 tuners... |

QUOTE(eMKs @ May 6 2010, 02:49 PM) It should be software update for current byond decoder to be capable for recording function using external hard drive. Do you think I can using USB pendrive to record programme on Byond?? I hope Astro won't charge for this feature The different with your DVD recorder is it can schedule recording time using EPG & might support HD resolution as well. Added on May 6, 2010, 3:05 pm Might be using IP network. If you notice, byond decoder has a network port. They might utilize it by connecting it to your broadband router. Just my guess btw I don't want it as I foresee it's invasion of my privacy I Don't have budget to buy external hard drive yet.... |

QUOTE(eMKs @ May 6 2010, 03:39 PM) You need to ask TallJustin for this one, waiting for him to come back wah... hopefully we will not have to record program using astro supplied HDD... & you need to remember pendrive using FAT16 file system which file size limited to 2GB only. Worst thing is you must use 'Astro' brand hard drive sure it will be cost so much if they make like that... Just wanna give one idea to astro, if they launch the new PVR decoder, they can make the system for the customer to "rent" it... it was the concept that Starhub in Singapore do. They rent all of their decoder to customer for some fee every month.... This post has been edited by AjkR06: May 6 2010, 04:28 PM |

QUOTE(Qash-M @ May 7 2010, 01:12 PM) Only if Byond PVR functions can be used with normal external HDD without the problems... because it's not officially launch yet.. just wait and see what kind of PVR functions that they will activate on Byond... |

QUOTE(chuppachop @ May 11 2010, 07:41 PM) AXN HD....could be Astro or now TV in HK…. ermmm... I think singapore and HK will be airing AXN HD first.... Since AXN HD is free till Jul 31, likelihood Starhub would package AXN HD with FOX HD, FX HD, FOXCRIME HD & STAR WORLD HD into a possible ‘Entertainment HD’ group -- Hence could be a Jul/Aug launch date across Asia. Just like ‘Education HD’ now comprises of History HD, Nat Geo HD & Discovery HD World. Cheers. But really hope that's Malaysia... on Astro.... |

For those who still remember, long time ago, before Byond launching..., Astro said that thay will aired first Malay channel in HD... If i'm not mistaken, one of the singing reality show on Astro RIA (ch 104), Fantasia Academy (or Akademi Fantasia in Malay).., their final concert will be air in HD... but now already week 9, and next week will be their final concert, no sign that they will air final concert in HD yet....

QUOTE(ianho @ May 13 2010, 01:14 AM) I feel really pity to you... you have such a "nightmare" when upgrading to Byond..... firstly, your order took such a long time to processed... now, heat problems for your decoder... Byond decoder feels really hot because the design for the decoder itself... It was compact and small then coupled with shiny black colour that will absorb more heat than before.... donno what way to do to solve that, I'm just placed my coolermaster notebook cooler above the decoder.... Uber Cup Semi Final was not upscale...
it's really HD... Added on May 13, 2010, 1:12 pm QUOTE(Qash-M @ May 13 2010, 01:06 PM) I'm also agree with you...but, i think that's imposibble for astro to do that since I think, Astro take direct international feed for HD broadcast.... This post has been edited by AjkR06: May 13 2010, 01:12 PM |
