QUOTE(AjkR06 @ Apr 16 2010, 12:15 AM) first of all, congratulations to you.. another byonders here... Oh yes, now I remembered I suppose to do some sort of volumn-syn thing which mentioned before, ok will go read the manual!Actually, from your problem here, I suspect that you still not calibrate your Byond remote with your TV.... The volume control that you're using now only works when u connect your audio to analog stereo out (the red and white RCA cable)... If u use HDMI, it's more easier actually, you can calibrate your remote to control your tv volume, mute your tv, change input sources and on/off your TV... For how to calibrate your byond remote with your TV, simply refer to your Byond User Manual... You need to make sure first what brand of TV that you're using, and program your remote by entering the code that available on the byond user manual.... And, why you change your HDMI cable?? It supposed to work correctly since HDMI is digital signal... see, when u change your HDMI cable also the volume control still not have solved... Maybe you don't calibrate your remote with your tv... try it now.... BTW, are you sure that byond HD channel PQ was in par with DVD PQ... I think, it should more than DVD standard.... Anyway, Enjoy your Byond... finally you can see the difference now.... Added on April 16, 2010, 12:16 am hmm.. for me it's consider a bit weak... since for my average, I can get about 210 to maximum 216 sometimes.... Signal consider weak?! So shall I call Astro ? Will signal get affected if there are also many Astro & B'yond discs around my neighbours? My area here all got Astro, some 2, this afternoon I saw at least 3 B'yond discs just few houses away..... hope not because of this ... This post has been edited by klseet: Apr 16 2010, 12:30 AM |

After going through the manual on how to setup Byond controller for TV, it's actually come with some pre-set TV remote controller codes. I think it's a bit troublesome, even the correct code work, it can only control very basic functions.
That's why I used this to learn & map all remote controllers: http://www.chunghop.com/en/products_view.asp?id=137 http://www.chunghop.com/en/products_view.asp?id=313 So I just hold 1 remote controller for TV, Byond, DVD, Aircon ...... Added on April 16, 2010, 1:10 amSo does any B'yonders have the sound level a bit low issue? Is it because of signal quality ? This post has been edited by klseet: Apr 16 2010, 01:10 AM |

QUOTE(devil'z070 @ Apr 16 2010, 02:10 AM) Sorry bro not sure whether can find here or not.... I bought it sometime ago in Shenzhen "accidentally" while trying to find replacement for my old Yamaha AMP. Before this, I don't even know got such thing, now I can almost learn & map most of electrical remote controls... it's very useful for lazy ppl like me QUOTE(apexg2 @ Apr 16 2010, 08:19 AM) Yes, I must say I got lots of help from many sifu here as well as other topics within LYN, a very big thank you !! QUOTE(eMKs @ Apr 16 2010, 09:23 AM) Yes, it's normal. Astro has lowering volume level for HD channel, or maybe SD channel too. But I just don't understand why they want to "lower" down?Previously, HD channel is louder than SD, then they normalize it. Now i felt they lowering a bit more because now normal volume level for my ears is 25, previously 20/21. Or something wrong with my ears Above explanation is for HDMI connection only. Note that you can't change volume level for digital signal, that's why you need to change volume at your TV. Signal Quality doesn't affect volume level. Sometime when we switch to other inputs (eg, DVD, normal TV, etc), suddenly it become so loud and we terkejut I must say the Byond HDMI sound level is the lowest compare to all my other type of inputs .... so we have to be very careful to lower down TV volumn before switching to another input.... kind of inconvenient .... again for lazy ppl like me QUOTE(dxjb @ Apr 16 2010, 10:11 AM) Bro..some might say they have signal strength of 214-250 right? Bro, you sure can change like this to improve signal ? Got "side-effect" or signal suddenly disappear ? Or suddenly can get other channels ?! Thats maybe because they have might have changed the satellite entry point.. I'm not sure whether u have done it or not but u can try change urs Try Home>Settings>Installation Settings>Enter PIN code (0000)>Satellite Settings>LNB Type>Change to #18 MEASAT 3A(VH) Someone here said its just changing the signal strength number But signal quality is the same So if u just wanna get the same signal strength number so others here, just do the above Hope it helps Ok, will try this out later at night. But so far even afternoon about 17x something at night 20x, it's still crystal clear and it seem like no difference to me.... So my question is what should be the average signal level and what's max ? This post has been edited by klseet: Apr 16 2010, 03:23 PM |

Wah, I was only away for 1/2 and now has grown from 30+ to 50+ pages, an additional 20+ pages
Did I miss out something important Really "Astro-sick" when I was away, can't wait to watch it the moment I reach home, still feel the excitement I noticed somehow the voice level & lagging has improve a bit, it is true ? Another question, why the ESPN-HD always nothing and keep showing next show schedule ? I always like to watch NatGeo & History, really impressive with the HD quality! |

QUOTE(vnair @ May 4 2010, 09:13 AM) Hi guys, I called Astro yesterday to apply for Byond. They tell me that it will take 10 days for installation. Is this believable? I am in Johor. Prior to this, I applied through one of the "dealers" in my town but nothing materialized after 5 weeks. Hmmm strange, just about 1/2 month ago upon received my registration, their Astro Beyond team actually contacted me within 24 hours and installation took place the next day. Astro support center actually promised this, at least I got mine within 5 days as claim by them. Why now they need 10 days? Is it more ppl applying now ?? I suggest you call and ask them again la, tell them you desperately need it Added on May 4, 2010, 3:48 pm QUOTE(spikey2506 @ May 4 2010, 08:30 AM) The thread will only be active if there's an issue with Byond(stretch vs 4:3) or there's a new channel. QUOTE(ianho @ May 4 2010, 09:50 PM) Astro is a good example of why Msia cannot make it by 2020. I registered online for Byond 2 weeks ago. No1 emailed or called me back. They even send me stupid brochure encouraging us to upgrade to Byond. LOL. So I damn bengang n called them today. Bro, many had complained before for bad response through email subscription. She told me to wait 10 working days! I was like WTF! I registered 2 weeks ago n u tell me to wait 10 working days more? So it takes 1 month to do a simple thing like that? I told her she better do it for me within the next 3 days so that I can watch F1 this weekend. Let's see if Astro will mebe call me back next year n tell me to wait 10 more working days. LOL Just CALL them and they are quite helpful. For my case, I live in Shah Alam, I CALL them to confirm my registration, next day morning the installer call, then the following day install, all within 3 working days only! May be now Worldcup is so near, I think many ppl also rushing to install, that's why delay a bit .... Again, just CALL & CALL to re-confirm, good luck mate ! Sorry bros, the more I read the more I get confused now .....
So is it so sort of "firmware" upgrade to the current Byond box withe the "record/burn" application, so we just plug in HDD through USB and press "Record" button? What format? Can later play on PC? So we just leave the Byond on 24 hrs from now to update?? If really like then will be very convenient, at least I don't need the DVD recorder anymore! But then may have to buy external HDD ler, also don't know whether Astro will charge ... Oh ya ah, TallJustin's new born baby should be full moon liao right ?! Hope he can help to clarify further. QUOTE(AjkR06 @ May 6 2010, 03:13 PM) Do you think I can using USB pendrive to record programme on Byond?? Please la bro, get an external HDD and record "gao-gao" I Don't have budget to buy external hard drive yet.... QUOTE(dxjb @ May 7 2010, 01:50 AM) Meaning it also functions as a burner? Er, I not sure whether it would be waste of money or not, since I'm still very blur on the Astro recording thing & also unsure how much they will charge......So it sounds both have Pro and Cons Will it be a waste of money if I get a DVD recorder if Byond have the capabilities..? My current DVD recorder bought few years ago in HK with ACL brand name. It come with 80G HDD can support up to 720p resolution, got many types of inputs. It record directly into the HDD, then can watch it from HDD, or from the menu can do some simple edit/combine/rename, after that can burn into DVD. Many years ago before the DVD recorder, I was using some kind of video capture device/card to record into PC, but it was expensive and the result is not so good. With technology advancement, I'm trying to check around what kind of PC recording solution which possibly can either replace my current setup. But that will take time, so definitely I'll keep my recorders for time being. Hope some sifu out there also can provide some idea/suggestion on movie/video recording solution |

Most likely I'll invest on another piece of recorder device seem to be more viable since it's 1-off investment only, furthermore can move around and also use it for other purposes. But my personal view is that, Byond box should have come with the recording function with the already RM20 monthly charges. Without that, it seem to render Byond box as "incomplete", it's really hard for me to say "you complete me" in terms of TV viewing experience Just my 2cents |

Me too, so far I didn't manage to watch ESPN HD yet as most of the time I'm rather "lucky" to see "next programe schedule ...." isn't it silly that the damn ESPN HD channel just shows the next programme at what time, without any breaks, without any movement/animation, i.e. jsut burning your panel. who knows, there are ppl who just want to wait for the match an hour in advance haha So after sometime I almost forgot this channel QUOTE(AstroCreep @ May 8 2010, 11:46 PM) Yes, I was thinking the other way round, TV remote to control Astro, limited though. Er, I don't think you can use the TV remote to control Astro, unless you get some kind of "all-in-1" universal remote control, eg like this type:I've programmed the Astro remote to control TV, but volume still can't be controlled? Sorry, nube question. http://www.chunghop.com/en/products_view.asp?id=137 That way you may keep all remote controls and just use 1 to control all With regards to the volumn, I asked the same question before and was told by forumer here that the Astro volumn control has no impact if output through HDMI. So you only need to use Astro volumn control if you are not using HDMI output to your TV. This post has been edited by klseet: May 9 2010, 02:02 AM |

QUOTE(TallJustin @ May 9 2010, 01:59 AM) The firmware is still in testing and not released yet. Very happy to see you again TJ! We had a girl and she's great, surprised you mentioned it actually. I'm testing the system now but I can't clarify a lot of things until astro makes a press release about it. Where I can I will answer questions. Yes it is just a firmware update to get the service. HDCP over HDMI prevents the recording of HD quality but if you use composite cables there are lots of devices out there that can record but it's only recording SD quality. I'm using a Pinnacle Hybrid TV Tuner with EyeTV software. If just a firmware upgrade and we can record Astro, that would be great and I think ppl will definitely like it since we can record and watch later. Really hope it's very user friendly and can just plug-in external HDD/USB will do But don't know what format is that and whether Astro will charge extra ? Thanks for the Pinnacle recommendation, will check it out soon! |

That is interesting, but can the Byond box process it properly due to high compression ratio? @18mbps bitrate. From my korean sources, it's prolly the same just that their codec are less process hogger unlike Astro which I'm not mistaken is using H264 instead of MPEG2.
