QUOTE(klseet @ Apr 16 2010, 12:02 AM) Finally, I'm Beyonder first of all, congratulations to you.. another byonders here... I just leave it on for almost 10 hours straight without any cooler, try to "warm" this guy up Yes, it's real hot underneath it.... The installer use the 20m new cable come with the package, luckily it's just nice and no need to extend further. After the new disc & decoder installed, took him 2min to configure signals, then wait for another 10min and walla ..... ACTIVATED ... that was fast !! - I'm rather surprised to see the size is so small, half of the previous! - I leave it on from 1pm until now still running without any cooler and yes, it's REAL hot underneath it! - So far no signal interruption, may be still new - The HD is really impressive, just like DVD quality - For SD, overall better than the old decoder, but it seem like there are few channels even clearer ... may be I'm blur after so many hours ... will check & re-confirm again. So far very happy, still got the excitement However, I noticed: 1. The boot-up time is quite long, almost 2min, is it normal? 2. The sound seem to be rather weak. Previously I only use around level 20~23 on my TV, but now I have to increase to almost 32~35 for same level of listening, I also tried the following but till the same: - adjust the Byong volume to maximum - audio setting = Stereo (Analogue+Digital) - change HDMI cable and try on different HDMI inputs on TV 3. Each time power off and on again, the last volumn level setting on the decoder gone again, then have to maximise again.... Does anyone has the above issues ? I applied B'yond through cam40729 @ http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1358625 He submitted for me on Monday and now up & running, all within 4 working days only, pretty fast I must say ! Actually, from your problem here, I suspect that you still not calibrate your Byond remote with your TV.... The volume control that you're using now only works when u connect your audio to analog stereo out (the red and white RCA cable)... If u use HDMI, it's more easier actually, you can calibrate your remote to control your tv volume, mute your tv, change input sources and on/off your TV... For how to calibrate your byond remote with your TV, simply refer to your Byond User Manual... You need to make sure first what brand of TV that you're using, and program your remote by entering the code that available on the byond user manual.... And, why you change your HDMI cable?? It supposed to work correctly since HDMI is digital signal... see, when u change your HDMI cable also the volume control still not have solved... Maybe you don't calibrate your remote with your tv... try it now.... BTW, are you sure that byond HD channel PQ was in par with DVD PQ... I think, it should more than DVD standard.... Anyway, Enjoy your Byond... finally you can see the difference now.... Added on April 16, 2010, 12:16 am QUOTE(klseet @ Apr 16 2010, 12:14 AM) Signal level afternoon was about 175 now at night about 201 hmm.. for me it's consider a bit weak...Signal quality seem unchanged BER 0.0E-7 Is this considered weak or average ? since for my average, I can get about 210 to maximum 216 sometimes.... QUOTE(klseet @ Apr 16 2010, 03:23 PM) Sorry bro not sure whether can find here or not.... yes.., surely you won't notice any difference...I bought it sometime ago in Shenzhen "accidentally" while trying to find replacement for my old Yamaha AMP. Before this, I don't even know got such thing, now I can almost learn & map most of electrical remote controls... it's very useful for lazy ppl like me Yes, I must say I got lots of help from many sifu here as well as other topics within LYN, a very big thank you !! But I just don't understand why they want to "lower" down? Sometime when we switch to other inputs (eg, DVD, normal TV, etc), suddenly it become so loud and we terkejut I must say the Byond HDMI sound level is the lowest compare to all my other type of inputs .... so we have to be very careful to lower down TV volumn before switching to another input.... kind of inconvenient .... again for lazy ppl like me Bro, you sure can change like this to improve signal ? Got "side-effect" or signal suddenly disappear ? Or suddenly can get other channels ?! Ok, will try this out later at night. But so far even afternoon about 17x something at night 20x, it's still crystal clear and it seem like no difference to me.... So my question is what should be the average signal level and what's max ? the concept is same as HDMI.. Astro was transmitted using digital signal.... so, if the signal is "strong" enough, you can get the same PQ even your signal was at highest level.... |

QUOTE(tommyfai @ Apr 18 2010, 02:19 PM) i have a question.. why sometimes the HD channels will be full screen and sometimes it would be 4:3 ?? maybe the sources itself..not all sources on HD channels are in HD and 16:9, especially for History HD.. sometimes they just upscale it and if they stretched the 4:3 videos, it will become more worse.... |

One of my friends just installed Astro 3 days ago.... and she gets the NEW GREY DISH( Byond dish).., so now, I simply can conclude that Byond dish is not "exclusive" dish only for byond user...

QUOTE(digilife @ Apr 24 2010, 02:18 PM) better not as local prog suks May I know what is "Ah beng series" ?? esp the current ah beng series get foreign ones if astro wanna compete wif others local productions juz simply dun hav the talent yet Added on April 24, 2010, 7:35 pm QUOTE(dxjb @ Apr 24 2010, 03:22 PM) Ahaa..thats the problem.. I also think like that, Astro don't think TM IPTV as their competitor...Astro dont have anyone to compete with They dont regard TM's IPTV as a big competitor So unless they wanna compete with anyone outside of the country then we gonna get local programmes.. As we can see, only certain areas are covered by them, and see their list of channels...and if their expand their coverage to whole Malaysian, not all people also can afford to pay at least RM150 per months...... Like Astro, their most basic package just costs RM38 per month.... it doesn't make astro "afraid" at all..... This post has been edited by AjkR06: Apr 24 2010, 07:35 PM |

I will really grateful for that.... A lot of things are coming in May they say.. I bet a lot has to do with World Cup but dont rule out the recording functions bec0ming available too But is sucks that they have only 1 tuner for Byond.. QUOTE(neb @ May 1 2010, 04:22 AM) false alarm But I heard in another forum, they said, Free view channels is the channels that anytime Astro can remove it from their package line-up...currently these channels are free to view, later on will be slotted into various packages 303 KBS World 305 TVB Classic 334 CCTV 4 611 Astro Ceria 735 Granada TV cctvNEWS is belong to family package, in another word, "free" channel If the rating for those channels are lower, not so popular, anytime astro can remove it since he said, it's just a preview channels.... Astro Aruna (channel 121) and Astro Kirana was the example of it. Astro suddenly remove it without further notice to their subscriber... But Astro Kirana was replaced with Astro Citra (channel 131).... |

QUOTE(digilife @ May 1 2010, 08:32 AM) I don't know whether the person who said that have a prove or not...But he claimed that he worked in Astro Customer service... Wah Lai Toi have so many viewers? I don't know that.. because I only tune to Wah Lai Toi for their TVB Drama.... Astro should separate Wah lai Toi from Dynasty to ala carte package... It seems that I only watch WLT on dynasty package since only WLT have Malay Subtitles on their program.... Like what they do with Astro SHX and celestial movies... if i'm not mistaken, we can choose to subscribe Astro SHX or celestial movies individually.... |
