Has anyone sucessfully submited their entry into the byond contest? i tried all browsers and still cant submit it, is astro purposely putting it up just for show and they are not sincere about it or someone in their IT department is sleeping on the job?

i saw the ad too. 5 channels: fox hd, fox crime hd, star wld hd, star movies hd and fx hd. but at the end of the ad, it mentioned sumtin about fox internationals network, so, it may relate to star, not astro  cry.gif
if it is slipped off, im sure it was sumtin intended  vmad.gif

I think that advert is related to this

I don't think this is going to happen, or at the very least, it will come at a cost to functionality - say for the free service, you can't do advance programming.
.....
I think is not free. If we buy new byond PVR, astro already charge that cost to us. One time fee is more affordable to me.
BTW like your say, better wait for official announcement from astro. icon_rolleyes.gif

In the image it clearly says 1st Week of June ... not 1st June

perhaps you somehow missed reading the middle part - but this is what starts rumours, then complaints. And then unreasonable whingeing ensues... yawn.gif

now if the new website is not launched on the 8th.... shakehead.gif

Interesting. I was reading up on star world HD when I noticed Star world SD is available in 16:9 format!

(right hand column) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STAR_World

In fact, lots of the STAR SD channels are in 16:9 smile.gif Surely it wouldn't be too hard to broadcast some SD channels in widescreen on astro?

Hmm.... Hope someone could correct me if i'm wrong.. obviously by my number of posts i only comment on topics that catch my interest.. Latest being the starworld HD advert yesterday that turned this whole topic into a cyclone for the past 12 hours...

1) AXN HD -> advert has been playing several times for the past week .. It can't be a slip up .. Seems to be confirmed for 16th June.. Take note ADVERT HAS NOT BEEN PLAYING ON STARWORLD but AXN. Watchers of HOUSE, LOST, CSI, Leverage, NCIS or 24 most likely have seen this ad

2) Starworld HD& Fox channels -> Is this really a slip up ? I only saw it once (but then again the axn hd adverts were spread up quiite far appart so we can only confirm this within the course of the next 3-4days)

3) PVR -> i don't know where you guys got this info. but a new pvr ? Really? i remember reading some where that one of the functions of the usb slot were for you to connect exernal storage for pvr recording? So why charge? Sorry Astro.. if you start charging for this i'll just buy a seperate recorder just to mess with them... 20 + 10 .. come on la astro.. Subsidy going down, you want to up the price of your service? get your act straight.

Hope Justin updates his blog soon sleep.gif;;;

Just back from Byond PVR launch. AXN HD and FOX HD is confirmed on 16th June with one Chineese Channel (can't remember). The installation fee for Byond PVR is RM400 (Rm300 if you give your old decoder) and they will charger you RM10/mth for the recording servive. For existing Byond subscriber, you can use external HDD (only WD HDD is compatible so far) with minimum Rm5/mth but you can only record 1 program at one time instead of 2 with Byond PVR. Byond PVR comes with 500GB internal HDD.

You can buy your own HDD but so far only WD Pasport 320GB is compatible with current Byond decoder (thats is what Astro guy told me). Once you got the HDD, just call Astro and ask them to activate the PVR service for Rm5 monthly.

Whoa! the decoder really looks like Byond. Unless the size is slightly bigger tongue.gif

conclusion, RM300 for the new PVR decoder + RM10 monthly subcription

For existing byond user, u can buy own HDD, then called astro to activate the PVR function + RM5 per month...
