Probably Astro can make free upgrade for those who are using astro max before they upgrade their decoder to byond. Like me...

QUOTE(ronn77 @ May 27 2010, 11:30 AM) im in dilemma of whether of getting Byond or wait for the Byond max to launch as I do not want to miss out on Byond Max once I get the Byond. If you want B.yond Max (or as Cam called it, PVR), you probably have to buy it. You don't buy B.yond. You must subscribe to it for 12 months minimum or 24 months for new Astro subscribers. When B.yond Max comes out, you can buy it and upgrade. World Cup is coming and Astro is already busy. If you don't want to miss out on football in HD, subscribe now.QUOTE(l_berd @ May 27 2010, 11:22 AM) i think someone here needs to do the jailbreak for astro PVR function.. It has to be a hardware hack to work. Firmware hacks won't work because Astro adds/deletes new special channel every month, which means they will automatically update the firmware when the decoder is turned off. QUOTE(klseet @ May 27 2010, 11:47 AM) But I still think some kind of consideration & option should be also designed to allow existing customers to enjoy, hopefully the full benefits of Byond box, perhaps with some marginal upgrade costs. Incurring costs is highly likely but how much, we won't know until an official press announcement is made. The costs that I could think of could be:- One-time activation fee for recording. - Monthly fee for programming functionality for recording ala Tivo. - Astro-supported external HDD to be used with B.yond (with full support). All three could be applicable but all three could also be waived (you provide your own HDD). The decision is up to Astro, but B.yond itself will not change. All you need is to enable the recording function and attach a HDD. QUOTE Since Astro has already secure income from the bouding, whatever marginal revenue is their direct GP. As much as I would understand your sentiment about the waiver, I think that it is unlikely that Astro would do such THIS YEAR. 2010 is a launch year and perhaps only 5% of their subscribers are upgrading to B.yond. Sponsoring such an expensive upgrade would not be wise for their bottom line, considering that not many would want or not ready for B.yond.Of course, if Astro still want to make the current customers happier, we'll definitely be grateful IF Astro willing to waive that upgrade fees The same customer-provider conundrum also exists with Telekom Malaysia's Unifi service. QUOTE So is it housing rule that prohibit individual dish or self-made rule by condo management ? It's not a federal/state law that prohibits individual dish in a building. It's building management that impose such a rule. If condo dwellers want B.yond, they have to convince their management to allow them to install the dish; since Astro is asking the management to foot the bill, convincing them could be easier.Any friends who live in condo can share with this ? QUOTE(AjkR06 @ May 27 2010, 11:49 AM) Probably Astro can make free upgrade for those who are using astro max before they upgrade their decoder to byond. Like me... I agree, especially if Astro Max was not implemented and supported correctly.fuad This post has been edited by writesimply: May 27 2010, 12:19 PM |

QUOTE(Jimsee @ May 27 2010, 04:01 PM) I found 1 file for complete schedule of match here, you can customize with our timezone, automatically calculate group standing & so on.. You just need to put the score line This post has been edited by eMKs: May 27 2010, 04:47 PM |

I really hope those who are discussing about PVR and what not are not the same people who also complains about Astro repeatedly err..repeating programs. It takes so little to appreciate the irony if that's the case.

QUOTE(writesimply @ May 27 2010, 11:08 AM) Are we talking about flats in the UK and Australia or are we talking about flats in Malaysia? As far as I know and have seen, lots of flats have lots of Astro dishes sticking out at the side of the buildings. http://www.foxtons.co.uk/properties/uk-lon...-in-london.htmlfuad A flat is a building with several floors that different tennants live in. You may live on floor 2, I may live on floor 3. I didn't know that a UK/OZ flat was different to a Malaysian flat (apart from build quality). Quite simply, it is a high-rise building which you live in. There are many in Kuala Lumpur. Some have centralised dishes, while others (mainly the crappy ones with peeling paint and clothes hanging out the windows on sticks) have a million small dishes stuck to its outside. In the end, both types are still flats. Hope that clarifies it. |

QUOTE(Qash-M @ May 27 2010, 09:50 PM) yeah..according to bro Cam (astro staff), AXN HD is coming to Astro in June..So if they want to start the promo, should start now.. Remember ESPN HD? Launch in 2010.. But promo start in 2009.. I year n 1 decade later 31 January 2010, only launch But if AXN HD was responsible for the commercial u saw, most probably it was for Singapore.. Astro sure want to do their own commercial and say this is the biggest thing coming to their beloved customers..! |

I didn't know that a UK/OZ flat was different to a Malaysian flat (apart from build quality). Quite simply, it is a high-rise building which you live in. There are many in Kuala Lumpur. Exactly my point. Based on your definition, my friend is living in a flat with a centralized dish. Except that he's not; he lives in a high-rise condominium with a centralized dish.In Malaysia, there are "flats" and there are "high-rise condos". Compare the condition of flats and condos in Bukit Bintang and you'll understand. QUOTE Some have centralised dishes, while others (mainly the crappy ones with peeling paint and clothes hanging out the windows on sticks) have a million small dishes stuck to its outside. In the end, both types are still flats. See above. Those "crappy" flat dwellers can have HDTVs and B.yond decoders because their management is themselves. The un-crappy "flat" dwellers can have HDTVs but not B.yond decoders because their management manages everything.QUOTE Indeed it has.fuad |
