what's the cap on the HSBB line? 120GB is not bad considering I'm paying $199 for P1 2.4Mbps and 40GB limit
*
somewhere from the unifi thread:
QUOTE
5mbps for RM149, 60GB/month cap
10mbps for RM199, 90GB/month cap
20mbps for RM249, 120GB/month cap

it's not capped yet, but it will be. right now the term states those numbers. best case they raise the cap to double the number, but still low for the current 4mbps without cap.

for someone that wanna terminate astro, then i guess it's a good choice.

If HSSB are available nationwide, then, I will consider to terminate astro...
and all the astro channels like HBO, Natgeo, Star World, ESPN available on TM IPTV..

PETALING JAYA: After the excitement of Telekom Malaysia unveiling UniFi, its high-speed broadband service that offers Internet speeds of up to 20 megabits per second (Mbps), the bubble burst for many consumers here.

Some are disappointed over what they feel are expensive charges for the packages for home users: RM149 for 5Mbps, RM199 for 10Mbps, and RM249 for 20Mbps.

In Singapore, a 100Mbps service – which is 5 times the speed of a 20Mbps connection – only costs about RM200.

But the real disappointment is the realisation that the UniFi packages have a cap on the amount of data that can be downloaded.

The consumers bristled when they learned that the 5Mbps service is capped at 60GB of data per month. The 10Mbps service is capped at 90GB while the 20Mbps service has a 120GB cap.

They were even more disappointed to learn that the data download caps are calculated on a daily basis.

Consumers were further horrified to learn that if they exceeded their daily download limit, their high-speed broadband connections would be throttled down to about 10% of the purchased speed.

Telekom Malaysia CEO Datuk Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa said at a press conference to announce the UniFi pricing yesterday that the measures were part of its Fair Usage Policy.

“This policy is a standard industry practice to ensure that all subscribers get to enjoy the same web surfing quality,” he said

when you turn on iptv, is that amt of data for iptv included in the download limit? I hope the 20GB limit is only for internet usage, excluding iptv content. Iptv should be unlimited, right?

The IPTV itself is using dedicated 8Mbps and data is capped at 60GB/90GB/120GB for internet usage only but now they are temporarily lift the capped.

I have been using 20M unifi for one month+. IPTV is just lousy...at least for now. shakehead.gif
I am now keeping the STB in the box.
TM would need to buckle up and get more HD contents.

Bro klimal, a friend of mine has similar issue with stimyx and he got fed up with it and terminated the service. But for me, it's totally the opposite. I bought the 1Mbps stimyx and my speedtest consistenly give me >1500kbps smile.gif Maybe it's related to your location from the exchange or probably your neighbourhood high internet usage. It just doesn't make sense.

Thanks dude for the info. It seems like it's a good package then. Currently I'm paying RM138++ for stimyx 1M plus voice 28 and this is without TV service. The cheapest 5M unifi will include similar voice package plus iptv and faster internet for RM149++. Something to consider.
One more thing, can you connect the normal fax machine to unifi? Or you need digital to analog converter? Thanks.

Yeah, I find streamyx performance can be highly variable depending on location. Thankfully mine is quite ok. Package is 1Mbps but they capped me at 2Mbps and consistently can get around 1.5Mbps (doing speedtest or ftp).

Why don't you subscribe to blockbuster deals? At RM140 you can get 4M laugh.gif 1M can get RM110
As for fax, i'm not sure, will confirm with my friend. But for voice, you can use normal phone. Conversion done by modem.

Unify is still new. By the end of 2012. There will practically be "1.5mil IPTV subscribers" for Unifi. This will not be good for Astro and the figure alone will give TM fire power to compete for more contents from Astro. Remember that $$$ is not the only requirement to bid for contents. Audience/service availability also play into that

I really hope that they will extend this service to whole Malaysia..., even kampung, small town, cowboy town, east malaysia, just like what astro does with their service...
I realized that astro using satellite and Unifi using fibre-optic.. Then, after that, they can compete with astro..... I think, if they won the EPL rights and some astro "exclusive" channel going to TM IPTV.., and their service just cover not the whole malaysia (only elit area and urban area), surely most of malaysian citizens will getting angry with them.... notworthy.gif

I think that blockbuster offer of 4M is only available in selected areas too. I heard people complaining that even 2M streamyx is not covered everywhere.
The reason I'm checking on the unifi is of the TV offering. I'm basically happy with internet connection @1.5M. If for the same money I'd get some basic tv channels, that's already a good deal. And having some HD channels though useless is a plus! And of course, I need the analog fax to work on unifi fibre lines.

i'm using unifi since the day they start implemented it to the public.

so far, the connection is wayy better than any ISP offered here in malaysia. Streaming youtube or any (ehem) streaming sites is a blast with almost no buffer at all.

for the iptv, i seldom use it and for now, the vod is free. but i can assure u that the RTM channels and TV3 is much clearer than ASTRO's or normal antenna receiver. some channels are in HD and i think it's only on 720p.

btw, i wrote a short review on UNIFI here:
