hi, newbie here. currently using D60.

before this, i use exifer to put watermark in my photo. but, i cant custom it beautifully.
then i try adobe photoshop. of course i can customize my watermark, but, it seems like not wise since i have to edit one by one of my pics.
just imagine that i have hundred of pics to insert watermark. its tired. cry.gif

here is my question:

1. is there any software that enable me to insert custom watermark in bulk photo?

2. is it possible for my D60 to put watermark automatically without using computer?

sorry for silly question. newbie here. sad.gif

photoshop should have a batch function for doing stuff like this. try search for it on the net.

1) Yes, Adobe Photoshop allows you to do that. Create an action to insert your watermark into the image (use the "place" function). Then run it as a batch action. You can even export out the batch action into a folder so all you need is to drag the photos into the folder and then the watermark will be added into the photo.

1a) alternative programs that allow you to do batch water mark on images are also available but they may not be very nice. Adobe Lightroom does that and you can download the Adobe Lightroom 3 Beta now and use it for free!

2) No it is not possible to do that without a computer unless you already printed out the images onto paper and then u use a printer to print your watermark on the image smile.gif

i used to do batch watermark but i find it's not helpful for me, since different photos would require watermark at different area so as to not spoil the image / subject.

Yeah that is true, I know some people opt to have their watermark outside of the image itself. I guess these folks are not too worried about copyright issues or ppl stealing their images tongue.gif

usually those with watermark outside the image would have some form of border around the photo with 1 part of the border being thicker to accommodate the watermark.

i don't like that. biggrin.gif prefer images as it is, used to do it with borders before but decided not to.

most people do watermarks not because afraid someone else stole the picture, but they wanna show how cool/unique their watermark or nickname is tongue.gif

not just that la. it's a form of marketing mah.

in my case, often i put my watermark on white / plain areas which could easily be PPed away.

my thought is that if anyone use my photo, at least have respect to me being the owner. the watermark saves them time for having to credit me as well. biggrin.gif

i think putting 1 by 1 shdnt be an big issue..at least im doing that all the time..hehe..but it'd be better if u can save ur watermark as a brush..or at least a PSD file so that u wont have to recreate it again n agian..

i agree with goldfries that watermark shd be placed at diff location depend on each photo...so batch editing isnt really that helpful at all..

achew - that's cos we like to compose compose many style, so having fixed watermark location just doesn't help!

cos watermark placement go wrong become distraction, hurts the FEEL of the photo. biggrin.gif

for me - 10 photos - 20 photos, no big deal. spend a bit more time only.

you upload few hundred photo wan ah?

to me the watermark is done same time as PP. just a matter of drag and drop and do a quick placement, don't need to be picky on the EXACT location cos we're not doing some bombing run. biggrin.gif

and my view is always like if i can spend few hours to setup and shoot..after that edit the photo...y cant i spend 10sec to credit myself? tongue.gif

but perhaps i dont do photos in large volume...and when i do..99% due to covering event like wedding job..those shots i'd never put in my watermark..altho i know its a great form of advertisement..but thinking from the couple's point of view..i think it kinda spoils the shots...

LOL to even find time to upload around 50 photos also darn hard for me liao tongue.gif

Hence every second count, I attended a talk on time management recently and the key is that if I can automate or outsource any tasks then do especially if those tasks are not the key priority. I like the first sentence that came out of the speaker, "Don't you want to be able to spend more time with your family, friends or on the things that make you happy?".

Now if only I can automate the PP process even more and save me more time biggrin.gif

haha..if the automation can create diff type of PP according to our mood..i don actually mind......somehow it sounds like "Action"..lol....
wouldnt it be better if i just snap my fingers and the photos automatically be taken the way i wanted it to be and it goes to photoshop and PP according to wad i need by itself~! hehe..but well..to me its part of the "fun" in my life too...so i don really mind doing it...and since everytime when im editing my shots..my gf would probably around me to discuss with me or disturbs me..i guess thats pretty okay too... ^^

ok guys..i think we r getting out of hand..hehe...out of topic too much liao..lets just stick to it..no more craps from me >.<

Hmm like achew said, just save it as a PSD file, everytime u wan to add watermark to your photos, just open that PSD file, copy the layer to your photo, place in wherever u like and tada~ It's done!

About batch watermarking, in case you always PP different size of photos, might as well manually put them in...
