Does UniFi have a Fair Usage Policy (FUP)? Does the FUP differ across packages?
Yes, UniFi packages are subject to Fair Usage Policy. FUP is a standard global practice to ensure that a good quality of experience is provided to all customers. UniFi packages for consumers (not businesses) come with a volume-based allocation and monthly download volume is capped. However, the FUP will not impact customers who do not exhibit abusive usage behavior, and will not impact the delivery of HyppTV and value added services.
ok i applaud you for being upfront about FUP and usage caps.
"...the FUP will not impact customers who do not exhibit abusive usage behavior..."
what does that mean? does it simply mean that customers that do not use more than their allocated usage will not be affected? or does it mean that we can go over our allocated allowance by x amount and still be unaffected if it doesnt go over y amount, if so, pls elaborate.
yes FUP may be a std global practice, but responsible isps would also detail out what happens when one goes over the usage allowance. will they be throttled? how much? when will it be lifted? 1st of every month? billing cycle?
i agree with usage caps but they have to be reasonable. a 2Mbit line is able to use 10Gb a day as an eg., so why is a 20Mbit line capped at an average on 120-Gb/ 30 days = 4Gb per day?
pls consider increasing/doubling your usage allowance. if 120Gb = 20Mbit is your typical customer they will be better off using a 1Mbit line with streamyx. why? because even though the line is at 20Mbit, it is not as though we will have 20Mbit access to INTL sites, you cannot guarantee (afford) that, and i accept it.
one size does not fit all.

prasys. it is only for now... if i were the ceo of tm, i would also do the same thing. lift the caps whist we try to get new customers onboard and when only a few residential areas have access to hsbb... the contract you sign already stipulates the amount you can use. now when, the network gets saturated due to an influx of new customers in Q3/Q4, then TM will exercise their right to cap everyone so the answer is not NO CAPs but more allowance.

QUOTE(WebWalker @ Mar 26 2010, 05:58 PM) I feel that TM should review their old broadband packages pricing. They are expensive compare to other S.E.A countries. If they can reduce all the packages price by RM10 to RM20 (or RM30) and I will be very happy about it. After the reduction, it will encourage people to upgrade their package. I will go from my 1mb package to either 2 or 4 mb ... 512k and 1Mbit customers are their cashcows...they will never reduce the amount you pay, maybe increase they will increase the speed unless they create another cashcow we shall see... QUOTE(syrn @ Mar 26 2010, 11:06 PM) Question: Streamyx is by TMNet UniFi is by TM TM is not the same as TMNet, they're a separate company and they both have different CEOs. So now UniFi is a direct competitor for Streamyx? not if TMnet CEO report to TM CEO their plan is to steal/transfer as many users from streamyx to unifi rm66/88 income becomes rm149/199 with no illusion of being able to download as much as you want
