Err, other telcos (celcom/digi/maxis) are actually using TM backbone. Heard this from my friends long time ago, who happen to be an engineer in telecommunication industries.
I don't know la if today they already can built their own infrastructure. But all on all, they still need to pass-through TM in any ways bcoz TM is the pioneer of Telco industries in Malaysia, hence many tower/base-station is build by TM.
I am from telecommunication industries..
Now I am involving with Maxis at Menara UOA Bangsar.
Yes they can built their own infrastructure. Top 3 telco is rich than you can imagine..
If it for coverage the telco provider will built their own tower/base station .. sometimes is involving tender..
I am not sure about Digi..
Bcoz Maxis and Celcom they are very good friend in telco industries.
For example if some area already got coverage for Maxis, Celcom will share the infrastructure with Maxis.
Then, if some other places got Celcom coverage, Maxis will uses their infrastructure.
Normally is Free Of Charge..
I haven't see Digi sharing with others Telco.
However, at my site.
TM is involved because Maxis is used Fiber Optic connection directly to this building.
I think Maxis wanna provide with Fiber Optic wired broadband.
This to ensure good connectivity all day long.. bcoz this is 5 Star Office building.

LOL, Singtel/Starhub are by no means much better compared to TM, not by singapore standard. trust me, if they come and and stuff, there will just be a new boycotting thread again in forum. even though i agreed that Singtel is much better than suckhub. They do have their own share of problem and bunch of whiners just like we did screamyx and now unifail/unicrap or whatever you guys call it. Theirs are called the stinktel and suckhub respectively, so go figure. I used suckhub and recently changed to singtel so i know exactly why those people complained. sure their raw speed are fast and all but they are not without flaw.
and yes, they do have bandwidth throttle for torrenting as well. except M1, which is because they do not have many subscriber and therefore has not face the problem in distributing bandwidth yet.
remember, grass always seems greener on the other side

be happy that there are at least the so called 5, 10 and 20Mbps package now which we can at least brag a bit compared to our previously highest end 4mbps.
Wah.. Thank you to clarify this.
Because some of people in this forum know Nothing about own neighbor
but talk like know Everything...
There look.. torrent also throttle in Singapore..
Again the situation same... if they have of quite numbers of subscriber, throttle is the best way to reserve the bandwidth..
