Its not available for a lot of people yet, but the question is. If it was available to you now, do you think the packages are fair for the price? If not, what would you like to see changed until you are willing to pay?

The whole point of the boycott is so that tmnet sees that there's opposition to their plans, and revise them to make it more fair to consumers. So if you can't get it now, but show that even when you can, you won't, then tmnet would be more likely to revise their plans, so when it does become available to you, you'll have a plan you like and can upgrade to it smile.gif

personally if it available to me now i still wouldn't upgrade because it's too damn expensive even for the 5mbps package. they have the monopoly so it wouldnt hurt them if they stop being greedy and make the price a lot cheaper.

i saw $47 ...why u wan compare with highest o_O...i thought most consumer compare with lowest price o_O

if compare how old....our streamyx 2mb is consider old enough to compare? our OLD ADSL(copper) is almost the same as their Faster HSBB(Fiber)pricing?

logically speaking it should be theirs more expensive because of low subscriber and "expensive international bandwidth" and yet they are cheaper....

u compare same speed oso more exp...u compare to low speed also more exp than theirs

existing ADSL? reduce price....phase out and upgrade ( same as reduce price)
=====================================

btw...is there any official bandwidth cap on singtel broadband?
*
That $47 you are looking at is a STAND ALONE ADSL line, not the entire 3-in-1 package. Like i said, ADSL+Free calls+TV. To get such a cheap price, u need to have an existing phone line which you have to pay extra seperately every month so it's not worth it. I think you have misunderstood the package, i did the first time as well.

I'm not comparing the highest, i'm comparing apple to apple. It's standard and shown on the official website link here : http://home.singtel.com/mio/mio_home_price-plans.html. This is where you get Internet+Free calls+TV. I can only compare ADSL now since Fibre based internet has not been offered in Singapore yet, as opposed to what you might have believed.

Also, while many homes here on Singapore are already fibre ready, the internet service based on this technology has not yet been offered to the public so nobody knows the pricing. However, once it's released one can only guess that the price must be higher than the equivalent ADSL speed package, either that or they reduce the ADSL pricing. Get what i mean?

No there is no cap here on any ISP except mobile broadband aka 3.5G HSDPA. They are all unlimited. Throttling, yes.

You check the telephone tiang at the back or front of your house, whether there is a white box hanging there.
If there is one, then your area has HSBB.
If no, then not yet reach your area.

If I were to suscribe to Unifi and at present I already have a TM fixed line phone at home (which i pay rental for), will they replace my current phone with the cordless phone and will they still charge me rental? Anyone knows on this? Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks

The voice is another line with new number and new phone so if you want to keep the copper line it's ok.

QUOTE(mylinear @ Mar 28 2010, 12:54 PM)
While it is true that you can download more with a higher speed connection, please also consider the other point of view. That is, with a higher speed connection, you can download what you used to downoad faster than you used to do. This means you can work more efficiently and save time. So higher speed does not just mean more download, it also helps in being more efficient and productive. It also opens up uses for applications that may not  have been possible before.

The problem is that we are only concentrating on wanting to download more with higher speeds. When you moved from 1M to 4M, it was most likely because you felt 1M was too slow to download a movie (for example). Using a 4M, you could download it faster. That was probably the intention. The side effect was that you also now had time to download even more. Thus the thinking became the faster the speed, the more downloads. This is not wrong, but my point is there is also another view to it.
If the NS highway speed limit is raised from 110Km to 150Km, it means you can go from KL to Johor to see your family in less time than it used to take. It does not necessarily mean you can visit 2 or 3 times a day.

Agreed - well said.
