1 mb broadband = (1 x 1024) / 8 = 128 Kb/s max download speed ... not just 100 ;_;
80% of 128 is 102.4 kb/s This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: Apr 21 2010, 03:22 PM |

Mb = Megabit (referring to data transfer rate of a network)
MB = Megabyte (referring to data storage size of a computer system) 1Mb = 0.125MB 1MB = 8Mb For streamyx 1Mbps package, the maximum speed of transfer rate is 125KB/s (1Mb / 8 = 0.125MB) To achieve a transfer rate of 1MB per second one would need a network connection with a transfer rate of 8Mb per second. So in other words, for unifi packages: VIP5 - max. speed of download rate = 625KB/s (5 / 8 = 0.625) VIP10 - max. speed of download rate = 1.25MB/s (10 / 8 = 1.25) VIP20 - max. speed of download rate = 2.5MB/s (20 / 8 = 2.5) hope its not too confusing haha source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megabit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megabyte Added on April 21, 2010, 4:02 pm and oh shave 10% off that download rate... QUOTE(stasio @ Apr 21 2010, 10:11 AM) It's mean that every high rise building (apartment) will be connected by VDSL? Well for me both my old phone numbers retained because the new number is VOIP so no problem, as I was worred they would disconnect one of the numbers but the guy was knowledgeble and helpfull and explained that new number is strictly VOIP based so no issues.F/O until Condo and VDSL over the old copper wires ? Any decrese of speed over F/O? Edit: What if I want to keep my old phone line? |
