I've been interviewed by AmBank's subsidiary last month and took 3 tests which I believe I didn't do very well. Luckily I've been called by AmBank Group's hr personnel within 2/3 weeks after the first session and called for the 2nd interview with the hr. Asked the hr how many people were selected for the 2nd session, the hr said that I am the only one and it supposed to be the final interview (which I don't really understand what final interview means - some ppl said it is for the hr to concur). Thus, I went to the 2nd interview, further discussed on hr matters and the main concern of hr I believe was about the salary. It went well and I asked the hr bout my current status directly - "What is my status now? Am I accepted? Or..?" and the hr personnel said "Basically yes, you are accepted by the hiring department and recommened by the hiring department as well, and we are to get the final hr approval as to confirm the hiring". And she said it will take another 2/3 weeks to revert back as to prepare everything and get the 'signatures'. What do you think? Am I getting the job? Or still 50-50? sweat.gif

Agree.  I met my future boss and took the entry tests within 1 week of the interview.  But it took HR almost a month to get back to me with the offer letter despite my boss hounding them.

But this problem is not unique to AmBank.  I applied to 2 other banks around the same time, and they also took about 1 - 1.5 months to reply with an offer letter as well.

Do you think I should contact the hiring department giving them some ideas as to push the hr to expedite?

I dont have much respect for HR. After my boss interviewed me, the HR interview was more of a formality. Interviewed by a lady with not great english and couldnt even ask the right questions. It took me 1 and a half weeks to get the offer letter after the HR interview. Would have taken longer if my boss didnt push for it.

My bosses tried to confirm me early. HR only put out the notice 2 months later and by that time I had finished my 6 months probation. More so, they found it fit to reduce the raise my bosses were willing to give me. Im not disappointed about the money im getting cause im quite comfortable with what i have. However I see my raise as a reflection of my performance at work and what my bosses think of me. I would think if my bosses were happy with me they would go the extra mile to make me stay. HR who has never seen me after my interview has the final say on it.

I also had some trouble getting my portal stuff set up. Turns out you cant call HR at 5.30, they have all left the office by then.

During my interview the hr also tried to reduce my expected figure. She said, it would be easier to get the approval if I'm willing to reduce my expected salary. While I didnt really requested such high increament. It was only few hundreds higher than my current income. I've applied that job not particularly because of money, but I wish to gain more knowledge and get back into banking industry as I've workded with other local bank before. But it wouldn't offer me to low to jump. Thus, I only asked the interviewer, "Well considering all the benefits that I've gained frm my current company, additional transportation cost if I move to AmBank and so forth, would you think I should reduce my expected salary? Maybe you can further advice on the salary range here?". Then only she said the expected salary is ok and she also claimed the hiring department recommended to offer me the exact figure that I've requested.

But still, I'm worried. Afraid if there is any problem that to cause the hr to reject my application. Hmmm...
