This is a ridiculous argument.

The reason HSBB is created is to cater for online content, which includes online HD content, which is not necessarily delivered through your IPTV. So you'll easily hit that 2GB/day limit with 5mbps.  EASILY.

You don't have to be a pirate to hit those rates.
*
i gotta admit, thats true mang. I think i'll go with 10Mbps if 5Mbps's cap is insufficient.

Although honestly I'd love it if they increase the cap by 10-20GB for each package but hey, its an improvement from Streamyx nonetheless!

I'd agree on the cap thing but wtf 1Mbps? thats too ghey.

Plus how would this "pay to uncap" service works anyhow? Automatic charge for extra bandwidth use or cap first then ask to be uncap?

stupiak TMnet, cap till 1Mbps for what, cap 50% subscribe speed I think is more reasonable!

still have streamyx up to 4mbps choice which is uncap, so stop being so greedy and angry with unifi just because you can't  download illegal movie and games faster

this guy works with TM, confirm case.

srsly la buddy, the cap is just too low. everyone is ok with the idea of bandwidth capping but currently its TOO LITTLE for the line. If your talking about 512kbps line cap @ 60GB monthly, everyone gonna be happy. But when you talking about 5Mbps cap @ 60GB monthly, thats just plain stupid.

Guys don't just complaint, MAKE SURE YOU COMPLAINT THE RIGHT THING.

Asking for unlimited bandwidth is IMPOSSIBLE.
TM won't let you D/U 6TB of data for RM249.

Instead, ask them at least double or triple the cap

Crap:

60GB
90GB
120GB

MORE REALISTIC:
120GB
200GB
300GB
*
Clearly TM thought about it but then they decided lets lower it to say, half the "realistic amount" so they can save even more money. clearly their research investment is "well spent". Now people don't even wanna go near unifail, congratulations.

I'm definitely foreseeing streamyx going to get an even crappier cap compared with unifail in order for people to considered unifail. Push comes to shove people don't have choice but to pay, use and like it.

Lets just see how this is gonna play out.

PETALING JAYA: Good news. The download cap on Telekom Malaysia’s UniFi high speed broadband service packages has been suspended.

The telco made the announcement on the Twitter microblogging site today and said it made the decision after taking into account public feedback on the cap.

“NO volume cap 4 all #unifi packages 4 now. Decision due to public feedback. TM will only monitor usage pattern 4 time being (sic),” read the tweet.

A spokesman for Telekom Malaysia told In.Tech that the telco, however, does still reserve the right to enforce a download limit to ensure all UniFi subscribers receive equal service quality.

Yesterday, many Malaysians complained on Twitter about the cap. They were disappointed because the cap would restrict the daily amount of data they can download via the high speed broadband service. (See report at http://bit.ly/ddk67k.)

They were also disappointed to learn that if the cap was exceeded, their connections would be throttled down to about 10% of the purchased speed. UniFi is available in 5Mbps (megabits per second), 10Mbps and 20Mbps packages.

With the latest announcement by Telekom Malaysia, many people are rejoicing. Among them is communications consultant Justin Then, who said he’s happy to note that Telekom Malaysia listens to consumers.

“Capping our high speed Internet access doesn’t make sense, if the Government wants Malaysians to seek out knowledge and be innovative,” he said.

A Twitter user, who asked to be identified only as Flo, said she’s glad Telekom Malaysia has decided not to employ the cap for now.

“We are paying a premium for technology that offers super high bandwidth, so a daily cap shouldn’t be applied. There’s no value in that; we would be better off with regular broadband,” she said.

After they pancing enough ppl then they conveniently put the cap back trying oh-so-hard to justify the cap, oh TM you bullshit artist you.

Its safe to assume people do not mind the idea of capping but what people do mind is the amount allocated before capping, simply put its ridiculous. The very idea of HSBB is to provide user with HD content.

If you put 60GB per month cap then what kind of HD content can you access? TM really no common sense at all even when the very idea of High Speed Internet is not that new.

Somebody fakap on the cap research shakehead.gif

bandwidth cap is enforced even by the biggest telco company in the US (AT&T, comcast). Try to understand why they bother to implement fair usage policy before sounding off.

Why are you paraphrasing him, are you a parrot?

I think everyone knows that when UNIfail started to put cap, streamyx will get a cap too because both from the same company.
