QUOTE(jalan2 @ Apr 14 2010, 06:34 PM) Malaysia land area is 330,000 sq km; Singapore only 700 sq km !! i notice this but then again america can wired up fibre optic whole country even have FREE WiFi broandband at average speed 2MB new york area or old york i dont now since it just a splah in the net i read What does that mean?? That means they just spend little bit of money, can wire up EVERYONE with 50mb & charge cheaper fees... here in Malaysia, TM has to put cabling over a land area 450+ times bigger, which also includes difficult terrain like mountains, rivers, jungles, & large areas where very few people have homes. That's why we have much lesser capabilities in terms of infrastructure.... somemore you know Singapore is very much richer than us economically. I hope you can see & understand the situation better now....... @hanzo i know not all cities i 1 stand dart...but think again do we have standart? QUOTE(jalan2 @ Apr 14 2010, 11:15 PM) i think you don't understand economics, or the real world. expert in business wah maybe got PHd hi proff!!! an how u know this? i think of living in SG but then again SG racist on malay and malaysian! TM cannot just wire-up KL or Penang and just ignore everywhere else in Malaysia; as Hanzo explained. If you have 2 parents (Family A) earning $200,000 & have only 1 child; compared to another family (B) where they earn $50,000 with 8 children, do you think these 9 kids have the same education & benefits? Surely the 1 rich kid (A) can afford Ipods, PS3, swimming at clubs, private school, etc. The other 8 kids (B) will have a totally different lifestyle.... or you think the parents can just help 1 kid & leave the other 7 kids with nothing?????? in other words, imagine TM only put fibre in KL & everyone in KL get 50mbs internet, but the rest of malaysia no need any wiring, no need phones, no need communication....? That's what happen if you say "just compare any city in Malaysia to Singapore".... btw, you may not be aware that Singapore is a COUNTRY, not just a city. As for China, if you're thinking of comparing KL (2 million) to Beijing (22 million) or Shanghai (17 million), of course the logistics & business opportunity makes it worth to invest billions in China where the potential customers is 10 times more. When Celcom first started business, they actually set-up telecom companies in China, where 1 small China city earn more revenue than the entire Malaysia. Even a "small city" like Shenzhen (by China standards) has over 8 million population... that's 400% bigger than KL, or 1600% bigger than Ipoh! If you still don't understand basic economics & business logistics, i'm sorry you'll have to go somewhere else to learn this......... |

QUOTE(Vervain @ Apr 14 2010, 11:43 PM) Bro, there are still malay and malaysian staying in Singapore, Just like how other races live in this country. It's a matter of adaptation for survival. If you can't adapt well, you cannot compete and win. I rest my case. phone got data cap?? are u sure? it is unlimited ma but screamyx is not "unlimited" it is limited to your line quality and SNR margins Back to the topic. I'm interested on the free nationwide calls as my parents would benefit long distances calls. What bothers me is on the data cap. What happens if we exceeds the amount? |

QUOTE(lohmk @ Apr 15 2010, 07:44 PM) I would like to think of parents of Family B under-reports their fortunes, spends their money in only god-knows-where, lie to their 8 children who they think are dumb, ask them shut up and always be thankful for what they have, threaten them with oppressive family regulations whenever the children questions them, never compare with better families, threaten their children to go to other families if they don't like it in B, incompetent, the list goes on... let end it DONT VOTE BN cause BN+Barang naik Cukai+ DUit gaji swasta tak diselengara! i'm going 21 not gonna vote BN but vote me! I would say ending the monopoly would be a good start for a better infrastructure in the future. |

QUOTE(billytong @ Apr 15 2010, 08:40 PM) You dont need to be absolutely that extreme for a comparison. Rural area do not need a Skyscraper, LRT or Unifi agree we dont need Unifail screamyx still We have 56k and streamyx covering most of our country. Rural area do not need Unifi. Covering KL, Penang as several Major cities is more than enough for now. |

QUOTE(jalan2 @ Apr 16 2010, 12:13 AM) OKlah, just to reply to your very bizarre sceanario (which would be a good script for a cantonese soap-opera): 1 word " CURUPTION"Lets say both family A and B have the SAME income. Same question applies: would the 8 kids in B have the same standard of living as the 1 kid in A??? That is more relevant to the original question that was asked; i.e. why Singapore (700 sq km) can have 50mbs while Malaysia (330,000 sq km) have lousy streamy line. KORAPSI!!! |

QUOTE(jalan2 @ Apr 16 2010, 12:43 AM) No, we're not talking sktscraper or LRT... just telecoms line. a true leader if u in dewan rakyat i vote u PRU 13I hope you will re-read original question to understand the real question. Getting 56k to most of Malaysia is NOT FREE. If it cost, say, $2 billion to do that, that's $2 billion that Singapore DID NOT NEED TO SPEND, becos they don't have rest of the country except their own measly 700sq km land area, while TM has to cover even 10% of our 330,000 sq km. .... and while its nice to say "just get 10 people to subscribe VIP20", well I'm sure you're thinking you are one of the 10? Tell me honestly, is it OK for 10 people (not you) to enjoy VIP20, while the rest of us (i think including you, me, and most of the people in this Forum!) to have 56k....?? Well, even if you don't mind that (becos you're a really nice guy), I really doubt the rest of Malaysia willing to sacrifice their access to hi-speed (oklah, 1 - 4mbs can say hi-speed lah) just so that only a small group of people (oklah, lets say 500,000 people for argument's sake) who happen to stay in KL can enjoy that VIP20 line....!?!? As a side topic: you say rural area do not need Unifi..... why is that? are Malaysians in rural areas less ambitious/ less smart/ less desirous than city people? Who you think will dare make that decision to tell TM "hey, stop all fibre cabling outside the cities.... no need to give Unifi to rural area becos they don't need it".... the PM? CEO of TM? Really? Would anybody now staying in rural area please reply to say its OK if TM just forget about giving Unifi to your home..... that would be a very interesting poll, yes? |

QUOTE(iipohbee @ Apr 16 2010, 09:44 PM) How remote to be deemed rural? Ipoh mali u da best!!! u work in Ipoh??We are referring to areas located within city limits. How about Ipoh Central, Gunung Rapat and Pasir Putih? Even more exact this is known as Ipoh Timur. Tasik belongs to Ipoh Barat Well if TM is only planning to cover very limited areas such as within Klang Valley that would only mean plain publicity to tell the world that we have fiber but the real truth is that it's just the face of things. No different from salesmen who puts the best and nicest looking goods on display but the things you get turn otherwise! |

QUOTE(iipohbee @ Apr 16 2010, 10:01 PM) The lame excuses they make can only fool themselves. let bakar all TM out post in Ipoh replace with IPOH ali network start 1MB -10Mb fibre optic project started 2013 lolz just kidding we dont have 20M!!!You think people are stupid enough to believe them? Investors invests blindly without doing deep research into what they venture in? Just like a worker trying to tell his employer all sorts of excuse to try avoiding doing any hard work but he assumed that his employer is unable to see through his lazy attitude. It's plain obvious right? I'm trying to speak with a very frank opinion. |

QUOTE(iipohbee @ Apr 16 2010, 10:35 PM) We live in a civic minded society. Don't have to bakar to get things moving.Just a good pen, public awareness and exposure will do wonders. not to mention the box dont have kilat protector!By the way, plastic and glass cables are much cheaper than copper metal ones. I can't see the reason why TM is not replacing their bulky metal cables with thin ones to switch boxes for future use. The very least you can do is to replace the ugly tube shape switches around my area. |
