Its not about the tech, its about the expectations. They didn't implement caps for streamyx because of user expectations of bandwidth limits. They're not doing the same for HSBB because its a new product, so they want to implement the caps which they couldn't implement for streamyx.
No, unless there's an announcement by streamyx and written in black and white in the contract you sign. The website alone is not enough.

haha
u r correct

Can someone post the actual source from TM where it says you will be throttled if you hit more than 2GB per day? I searched in this thread and this is the first post that mentioned it. Searching google gives me yong kai loon's page. http://www.yongkailoon.com/
I find no mention of 2GB daily limit on TM's terms and condition site.

Yes it's math, but that does not mean you MUST spend only 2GB per day. You can go more than 2 GB in a day, and maybe less on other days when you're away from the pc.

bandwidth cap is enforced even by the biggest telco company in the US (AT&T, comcast). Try to understand why they bother to implement fair usage policy before sounding off.

It was mentioned in the site before this that the 60GB is pro-rated throughout the month. There was also a scanned image of the announcement as well with the point highlighted. Its in one of the HSBB topics, but not sure which. You can look for it if you want, we wouldn't be making so much noise about it if that wasn't the case.

They might have changed the policy for now, but they have not made such a change clear to us. Seems like tmnet has lousy PR

Streamyx was never "capped". It was charged per hour at first, only later did the unlimitted plan come out.

oh, thank god SOMEone is civilized in this forum . I'm not supporting anyone, just looking for the truth. I got a copy of the brochure back home. I'll take a closer look at it. I'll ask around too and see if I can get more light on this.

Well at the very least, TM actually responded to the public. As screwed up as the streamyx used to be, it seems that they're taking things in the right direction.

tmnet is hoping the "no cap" will entice some of you, but still confusing and ambiguous enough that if you sign up, they can change their mind anytime.

Which is why I'm advocating that you guys don't sign up for anything until they can come up black and white what is offered and how they plan to treat the 2 year contract.

If i remember correctly, it looked more like a newspaper scan/picture, either way I'll try to dig up the image for you if I can find it, otherwise I'll check the newspapers again to see if its there.

Good calculation thumbup.gif
If they reduce a price and remove a caps (or increase current caps to 5 times) , i bet TM can earn more than 2 million a year.

Maybe some of the users misunderstand the xgb/day thing, but some of us understand it well enough that it's not a daily cap tha we can only use 2gb per day. It's just a way to make a point against their monthly cap.

Yes, bandwidth cap is a must since bandwidth ain't free. But their cap ain't reasonable at all for a lot of us. Some people may not use that much bandwidth, but there are others who would. They should offer different type of packages of the same package to cater all the groups and not just satisfy the 'browsing only' people.

Please understand that bandwidth ain't free. And if you want unlimited, go get a dedicated line. There are reasons why they cost so much for those type of lines. Maybe in some other country it's cheap, but it's obvious from the beginning that it's not in Malaysia for whatever reasons. TM just need to make the cap bigger.

Added on March 27, 2010, 1:05 amCrap. Just read the previous page.. daily cap? Now that's shit!

yes correct....unlimited u can never dream already... the another way is to give & take which is cap bigger only... i can confirm 100% they will not lift up the capping system one... they now monitor the pattern when they studied the pattern they will cap accordingly... ASK UR UNIFI's BETA USER abuse the bandwidth now so that they will studied towards higher bandwidth xD

TM said themselves that FUP will be implemented across all type of services they offer. They just don't know how much to cap us yet. They're trying to get peoples feedback by saying they would have caps on the current Unifi packages. Even streamyx won't get away from it. Goodbye download 24/7 I guess soon.
