U guys still remember when TMnut first launched the 4MB and price at RM268(somewhere around that price range), and nobody bothers to subscribe it so ended up they forced to launch the RM160 combo deal for 4MB.

So please don't subscribe the Unifail eventhough they provide free installation.

First was their advertising in newspapers which look like an Ad for U mobile (ytl must be happy that TM is doing them free ad campaign) and now this? stupid pricing and stupid bandwidth cap. Whoever that's running their marketing strategy should find new jobs or go home and sleep.

Smells like a scam to me.. Gov gave them a couple billion to lay the lines and they purposely make the package so that no one wants to sign up. In the end, they benefit cos less subscriber to deal with, less cost for them (don't need to connect the last mile fiber to subscriber's house and less equipment to buy) but still able to get the gov's money. What a nice way of earning money..

We should start a company also.. call it LYNet. Den we propose to government that we'll supply the latest tech in broadband and once we have the money, create a few package which is ridiculously priced so that no one will subscribe.. Free money and don't need to do work also.

Consumers let down by cap on UniFi packages

PETALING JAYA: After the excitement of Telekom Malaysia unveiling UniFi, its high-speed broadband service that offers Internet speeds of up to 20 megabits per second (Mbps), the bubble burst for many consumers here.

Some are disappointed over what they feel are expensive charges for the packages for home users: RM149 for 5Mbps, RM199 for 10Mbps, and RM249 for 20Mbps.

In Singapore, a 1Gbps (gigabit per second) service – which is five times the speed of a 20Mbps connection – only costs about RM200.

But the real disappointment is the realisation that the UniFi packages have a cap on the amount of data that can be downloaded.

The consumers bristled when they learned that the 5Mbps service is capped at 60GB of data per month. The 10Mbps service is capped at 90GB while the 20Mbps service has a 120GB cap.

They were even more disappointed to learn that the data download caps are calculated on a daily basis.

Consumers were further horrified to learn that if they exceeded their daily download limit, their high-speed broadband connections would be throttled down to about 10% of the purchased speed.

Telekom Malaysia CEO Datuk Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa said at a press conference to announce the UniFi pricing yesterday that the measures were part of its Fair Usage Policy.

“This policy is a standard industry practice to ensure that all subscribers get to enjoy the same web surfing quality,” he said.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak launched UniFi at the Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday night.

To answer your query, the topic was merged because there's an earlier topic on "Rants" created by Roxygal:
And since this topic was created later in regards to "rants" also although of different nature (capping vs slowness/connectivity); I decided to merge it together.

Maybe it's my mistake for doing that, but I see too many similar topics around (was clearing couple topics in regards to HSBB). Anyway, thanks to wKkay who rectified the situation.
