haiz...y the TM always ignore the most important area? ==
only release the place whre PM need to go.
*
Not ignore areas, but they focus on areas that people are willing to PAY a higher amount when the services start. You put up in an area where people don't want to pay more than RM99, but infrastructure cost to upgrade the area in the regions of RMxxx,000. How leh? Nobody make business that cannot cover cost.

Better to cover important areas where they can pay first, so that by the time they service other area, they can cover cost, package also will be much cheaper when they reach other housing area like mine.

Disclaimer : It's not that i support TM or something, but I'm also feel tulan since my area not covered in HSBB, this is me trying to console myself of the pain. tongue.gif

i guess the international gateway will still be the main issue

i tried at their booth oso got lagging several times, speetest didnt even reach 1mbps

Yeah. I tested HSBB as well. International sites... faster a bit, but not by much. But if the server is locally hosted in Malaysia. mmg super fast.

Did you test during the launch ? So saying that Dataran Merdeka area already covered with HSBB since people could test during the launch ?
*
I tested during early March. Usually hang out at my cousin's place who stays in TTDI (Lucky *******).

At the moment, as some mentioned, there is a fair usage cap, but not yet implemented, hence you see all the HSBB users are using P2P to the max. New episode of Lost for example, finishes within 15 minutes. Probably since 80-90% seeders are Malaysians. tongue.gif

I don't think a lot of people here is willing to fork out or can fork out RM250 for an internet line. With the rising cost of living, super inflation, which is not matched with proper salary adjustment. Life is getting harder in Malaysia. IMO, The 5Mbps should be around RM70++ like the current 1Mbps pricing, with the upper range package not exceeding RM150. So much for 'good news' as claimed by Bijan.

Probably will only happen once the entire country has been connected with HSBB. For some areas, still no choice but to use streamyx.

My friend in singapore told me last time they upgraded the speed they give to the current users free upgrade to be on par with international pricing standard doh.gif

DOn't know why people always compare to singapore. If you want to compare to singapore, let our broadband provider focus solely on Klang Valley ONLY. And yes, if they can focus only on that distrcit/area and disregards the other parts of Malaysia, then yes, we can be competitive to Singapore within a year.

elaborate more what you mean by focus solely on one area only ( e.g. like klang valley for hsbb right now ) ? how will that reduce prices to be competitive and on par with international standards, when the fact of the matter is there is only 1 viable isp in malaysia ;_; with little to no reason for lowering their pricing.

more competitors = lower price

no competitor = monopoly
*
Meaning that the provider, don't need to spend money spread out to ensure that the entire Malaysia (and all exchanges in Malaysia) to be covered with the service.
If the provider only focus on the 30 exchange for the entire Klang Valley only, then prehaps you can get excellent broadband.

I'm not defending anybody, just that if you want to compare Malaysia broadband issue, compared us to thailand and Korea please. At least in terms of landmass, it makes a lot more sense in cost/infrastructure.

I'm still not happy my house not getting the speed, if i could, i would still pay up perhaps the 5Mbps package, it's still tolerable and at least it's a fiber connection rather than plain 15 years copper cable outside my house.

If you look at the packages though, it's FREE calls to fixed line nationwide.

Time to start abusing that, free calls nationwide to fixed line is a good thing.

Besides, like some pointed out, even if the packages are expensive NOW, by the time your areas is able to support HSBB, it might be lower price already. The reason streamyx won't go down, since those areas have no choice but streamyx anyway.

I still don't see how people complain about usage cap and all that when most are downloading illegal stuff anyway. Those that do legit downloads, they limit down the speed, meaning that you've already downloaded over the cap. So you're getting current streamyx download.

And never fear, it's confirmed that streamyx users are also gonna get capped. Other countries are also doing it mah, so we have to follow.. rolleyes.gif
