QUOTE(minimize @ Mar 25 2010, 12:13 AM) I make a simple bandwidth calculation here. Imagine bandwidth of IPTV if TM broadcast in HD. To stream 720p HD video we need at least 4Mbps. 1 hour = 1.7GB 1 day = 41.2GB 30 day = 1236GB So IPTV in HD on HSBB is just a dream if their used caps. They can cap only the internet access and IPTV left uncapped... I don think IPTV will be included in the cap, as the content hosted by TM itself and we have a dedicated bandwdth to stream from the server.

btw, we need to pay for IPTV... Free for local channels Added on March 25, 2010, 12:22 amQUOTE(minimize @ Mar 25 2010, 12:21 AM) So if I subscribe HSBB and IPTV, they will pull 2 fiber to my home? Is it like that? I thought it just 1 fiber to home. 1 fiber enough... 1 already can support 1Gbps... This post has been edited by poh880: Mar 25 2010, 12:22 AM

Just my guess... After reached the cap, speed reduced to 1/10 means 5M to 512K, 10M to 1M and 20M to 2M... lol

QUOTE(eternity4av @ Mar 25 2010, 12:43 AM) this would be nice, capped is ok for me as long as NO THROTTLING, by all means that we getting full speed of 1MB, which is capped to 1.5MB, whereby the 2MB is capped to 3MB, lolz, which have better international routing, if possible allows p2p as well? am i too greedy? lolz If it really happened, 1M means 1024K not more than this... Streamyx, TM capped 1M users to 1.5M is to make people happy... lol QUOTE(minimize @ Mar 25 2010, 12:44 AM) If TM introduce IPTV in HD (regardless caps), I thinks it will affect HSBB performance because of very huge amount of bandwidth (almost 1TB/month peruser) used although stream from local server. We will see, since most 4M Streamyx users will change to at least 5M UniFi, as it is cheaper and if your area supported, why you want to pay more (current Streamyx pricing) for less benefits. In UniFi we get VoIP, Internet and IPTV.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « QUOTE(cruzzmz @ Mar 25 2010, 12:54 AM) IPTV, VoIP will be on separate VLAN wont be shared with internet ... Volume Base or fair usage policy will only applicable to the internet port QUOTE(Hamas @ Mar 25 2010, 12:54 AM) it wont be 'unlimited' but is still 'best effort servis' QUOTE(kaiserreich @ Mar 25 2010, 12:56 AM) TM-intranet bandwidth is free for TM. 1TB, 2TB, 1PB, whatever bandwidth, as long as they got the hardware to support it, its free. The trouble is the bandwidth to overseas. I am very interested to know how much they are paying for 1Gbps. The reason: Unifi Caps and pricing are almost like Australian pricing. Australia has to charge so much because they have to lay cables to Guam, somewhere in the middle of the Pacific. As for Malaysia, they lay cable to HK/Taiwan/Japang (my guess), and this is far cheaper that Australia. So why are we paying as much as Australia? To cover the cost for Fibre optic cables? The problem is can the exchange's port support such a high traffic or not??? Like Verizon FiOS, there have users complaint about lagging picture and sound. Hope it will not happen in TM infrastructure.

QUOTE(kaiserreich @ Mar 25 2010, 12:58 AM) People who uses 4Mbps are mostly downloaders. 5Mbps has a 60GB cap. You can breach the cap if you fully utilize the line for 48hours, how nice is that. 4Mbps can go ~1TB a month Since we still don know whether UniFi will be capped or not... Anytime by today the price, cap or not and all information should be released...

QUOTE(SonnyCooL @ Mar 25 2010, 01:18 AM) i scare this, new full speed, after two year become what u mentionĀ What I said was after you reached certain amount of data quota then your speed will be reduced like DiGi Broadband. As for our long lasting Streamyx, the speed also can reach max when you used download manager. This post has been edited by poh880: Mar 25 2010, 01:23 AM

FTTH will be better, almost no distance limitation compare to VDSL2. VDSL2 speed to be reduced very quickly after 4 or 5KM...
