60GB for a 5mbps symmetric line.. ridiculous. Pure download @ 5mbps means about 27 hours of continuous usage .. which is about <1 hour of 5mbps per day. This is download only, not even inclusive of upload overhead.

When you watch youtube SD also it goes up to 5mbps, means you can only stream <1 hour of content per day lar.
*
this is what i gathered

for youtube, there is no cap...only for direct download & international p2p will count...

if exceed cap limit, the international speed will be throttled form lets say, from 5mbps to just 512kbps...for local, it will still at 5mbps...so, if u guys doing p2p dl locally, it wont throttle down...

for iptv, there will be no cap at all...8mbps constant streaming speed will be given 24 hours..its just that they wont tell u that they provide u a 8mbps speed for iptv that u subscribe...meaning that, let say if u subscribe for 5mbps package with iptv, the speed that they open for u is 5mbps + 8mbps = 13mbps...

that is wat i've been told by the respresentatives...if they lie, then i lie la... tongue.gif

by the way, i watched the iptv demo..the HD quality that they provide is slightly better than astro beyond...& the feature that they provide is also quite nice...

my opinion;

TM IPTV;
+ nice HD quality
+ nice feature & VOD
- lack of interesting channel (this one, astro win hands down)

There are easier ways to DOS** Maybank and LYN servers besides consuming a load of bandwidth. Last year, I reported a vulnerability to TM about their CBJ5 datacenter (which has been fixed now so don't bother). I took down RHB, mcds and tons of other local websites just by attacking their main router (which manages the VLANs) and I used what.. 2KB/s of bandwidth lol

What's the use of broadband services that advertised but can't deliver.
Restricts bandwidth and throttle customers.
Even with 5 MBPS I don't think youtube, rapidshare or any downloads be any faster!

ya know, one thing that TM maybe will reconsider their monthly charges..

IF, & only IF there's other ISP like P1 or the one that Berjaya will launch after this that can offer a much competitive price range for their product, plus IF Maxis FTTH can offer a better price range, better coverage area & stable services...

THAT will forced TM to reduce their price...

i still remember the time when TM DEL call charges was like 70sen - RM1.20 per minute for nationwide, & RM1.20 above per minute for call to mobile, while at the same time Celcom, Maxis, Time & Digi were in price war, getting cheaper & cheaper...this continuous event has forced TM to upgraded their DEL services to VOIP so that they can compete with other Telcos...& that's what we've seen right now, something thats very impossible to happen before...

i guess it can be repeated again for broadband, maybe... hmm.gif

i think most of y'all got it wrong

when capped, it doesnt mean that they block your connection

they just REDUCE the international speed for your ip...

reduce doesnt mean that you cant download at all...you can still still do p2p, only the international speed will be throttle down...i've been told that they will reduce around 512kbps...

local doesnt affect cap limit...

guys.........

i think its not appropriate to rant about TM charges when at the same time, other ISPs dont wanna spend billions (or maybe dont even have that billions) budget to span their wings across Malaysia for better BB services....

well, TM spend up to RM9.1 billion for the project...did other ISPs have that budget range or maybe higher for their BB project..???

we've seen that call charges war has forced TM to reduced their landline charges up to "free-call nationwide"...i think y'all know hows the TM call charges in non-VOIP DEL copper era before...

why dont we rant other ISPs also, because of their "KEDEKUTNESS" in doing their "corporate social responsibilities"(if they do have any) to Malaysians nationwide...???

QUOTE(Matrix @ Mar 25 2010, 11:41 AM)
1) The billions from this HSBB project is sponsored by the Gov. Aka taxpayer's money. Aka OUR MONEY.

Hey, if our Gov willing to have an open tender and give license to other service provider to do the job and sponsor whoever can get the best package at the most reasonable price, you think other ISP like Digi, Maxis etc cannot do?? Because the billions are handed over to TM for nothing, in which it is used to feed the crony ( who obviously wants to makan a lot and charge high price for substandard service). So in the end, instead of paying RM10 billion to do the same job, you need RM20 billion to do it. And who shall bear the cost? Why, the consumer of course.
*
RM9.1b from TM, the rest is from government

& i can bet you dont have any idea since when did TM installed their infra to get ready with HSBB (they even have facilities ready for Wimax before), & i can bet u thought that RM9.1b is a real cash money...

~sigh~

you know how the politics work here...you know how the Malaysia works...

you know right Maxis do have FTTH project running right now..??

how do they get it..???

you know right that berjaya & GP got license to do wimax nationwide...??

how do they get it...???

you know right that there's other ISPs already provide BB...???

how do they get it...???

besides "kroni", any other excuse...???

why small scale, eventhough they were kroni...???

for the HSBT proposal, maybe gomen rejected them because of this for example;

QUOTE
PETALING JAYA: High Speed Broadband Technology Sdn Bhd (HSBT) is finalising a RM2bil bridging loan facility with several local banks to fund the rollout of its high speed broadband network over the next two years.

Do other ISPs have RM billions cash ready or infra-worth-billions-ready for HSBB with strong financial background...???

i guess thats how they play the game

to TM bashers;

please stop...u'all not contributing a single cent in this thread...

ok, TM sucks...so whats your solution...???

does ranting can solve the problems...???

i see many forumers ranting bout P1 in their official thread...but did they progress...??

NO

so how would you think by bashing TM here in this thread, with the services that still not proven success or fail yet, will help TM or Malaysia to progress...???

please, explain to us....

Hi All,

I just called HSBB Hotline to double confirm.

All the download for bandwidth cap, is included for local, if you using download from local ip more than 60gb, you consider reach the limit.

its not blindly bashing, many of us just voice out our opinions, based on our current experience on Streamyx services

if we can't even be allowed to complain, then what's the use of this subsection, to praise Najib on implementing his 1Malaysia into HSBB?

and I have voiced out dissatisfaction on the super slow Youtube and video streaming in this thread, but it seems nobody willing to take note, I can't have high hopes on HSBB if they can't even provide decent services on Streamyx level. That TM Staff please explain on the recent slowdown on video streaming sites

to all others, what makes you think that HSBB will be a success
*
i know how u felt

so, is there any appropriate TM representatives here...???

ever heard something called "WRONG CHANNEL"...???

Streamyx progress bit by bit not because peoples ranting in forum...but its because somebody know how to channel the complaints for TM to take action, eventhough not all success...

so, again....whats your solution.....???
