Not trying to defend TM, but comparing to Singapore is kinda moot as it's such a tiny nation that their infrastructure to provide Internet services can't be as many as Malaysia's. So I assume that's how they're able to provide such ridiculously cheap prices.

i still remember the time when TM DEL call charges was like 70sen - RM1.20 per minute for nationwide, & RM1.20 above per minute for call to mobile, while at the same time Celcom, Maxis, Time & Digi were in price war, getting cheaper & cheaper...this continuous event has forced TM to upgraded their DEL services to VOIP so that they can compete with other Telcos...& that's what we've seen right now, something thats very impossible to happen before...

i guess it can be repeated again for broadband, maybe...

not true, the Pahang whats the name actually proposed a plan to install HSBB with no help from gomen but gomen rejected that proposal and decided to spend billions of rakyats money to assist TM on this project.

This HSBB project was supposed to allow others to offer services via the fiber optic. Digi or Maxis for example can offer internet services via the HSBB project.

I suppose if you can analyze & calculate the maximum we need for legitimate use.. eg video & audio communications (even webcam got HD webcam these days), HD legit content streaming, collaboration tools, social networking sites (uploading super HD videos & pictures to FB?), foruming.. downloading & testing sourceforge projects, linux distros, microsoft product beta testings etc...  and if that translates to more than 120GB per month, we should be able to present this paperwork to MCMC / SKMM who can order TM to increase the cap to a more reasonable level..

Because part of the HSBB cost is from gov (thus duit rakyat) so I'm sure we can have a say in this..

we just got screwed again by TM.... and our Singaporean neighbor is going to laugh at us.... Starhub 100Mbps Broadband costs only SGD86.88 / MYR205.319 WITHOUT BANDWIDTH CAPPING.

And the IP TV channels offered by Unifi are mostly FTA (Free to Air) channels, DWTW, Fashio TV, Taiwan MTV, Channel News Asia and etc which you can pick it up via any Satellite broadcasting them for free (using 3rd party satellite decoder and dish of course)

But if they have quality 120gb I wont mind la, like lowest ping, no disconnection, drops and etc.. Will greatly benefit the MMORPG-ers..

Before I start, I am not here to point fingers at anyone cause I think all of us are guilty of some parts of what I say below at some point. This is my general opinion so please don't get all worked up over it. 

I really cannot understand what you guys are complaining about. This CAP structure is being used in other places too. I worked in Sydney for close to 4 years. I had an Optus (Singtel jv) 20Mbps link which I had for as long as I lived there. I always had full speed and probably only 2 outages in 4 years. Guess what the CAP was 20GB peak and 40GB off peak.

I worked a lot from home using VPN to various sites. I always found the time to game and did so quite a bit over the weekends. I also downloaded quite a bit of stuff every month on my media centre rig. With the exception of 2 months I never hit the CAP otherwise.

As bad as TM is I am happy for this new launch. Sure the prices could be better (who wants to pay high prices for anything) but I think the CAP is not such a big issue as most of you here are complaining about.

Lets admit it you can't be expecting to download the entire Internet into your local desktop. For every one you there is 10 casual users out there who wont hit the CAP (if they do I stand corrected). We are meant to share the bandwidth not hog it. One of the reasons Streamyx is slow is because of all the P2P hogging out there. You can't set of 10 BT downloads and go out with your GF while some poor bugger in a different part of town is trying to download a 1MB file from Windows update. How is that fair? Sure TM should probably get more International bandwidth but the likelihood of that happening is small at least not anytime soon. In the meantime we should learn to be fair to fellow users.

Honestly think about it for a second, there is 2 many users hogging the line which affects everyone else. I have a Streamyx 4Mbps and at most times its run fine but on weekends during peak hours it can get really slow. Now I wonder why??

On a side note while we ponder about this CAP issue, I am sure there are plenty of applications for Unifi already. Do not underestimate people's need for more Internet, most people just going to close one eye and ignore the CAP.
