Dear All,

I would like to advise that please supervise the astro staff when they are doing the installation. Today the astro staff came to my house to install the unit. I was away however my aunty was supervising the installation, when I got home I tested the astro byond everything was okay. Thats until I went looking for something in the room. My PSP has gone missing. Initially I thought I might have misplaced it so I checked the entire house and its missing. I called my aunty and she said she did not see it either. I called up the supervisor and he got his boys that did the installation to call me back. They called back saying they saw it and placed it next to the books in the room. I rechecked the room and there is nothing there. I called them up again and the "boys" says check with aunty if she misplaced it. I double checked with my aunty and she says she did not notice it. The "boys" were very persistent on coming back tomorrow to talk about it. I however cannot pursue this much further as I lack the evidence to prosecute them. Hence all i can do is inform everyone here.

If the technicians who turned up installing the Astro Beyond informed you that they saw the PSP was next to books in the room, probably they are the culprits.

From your statement above, its absolute spot on that the Technicians are the culprits. If they are honest enough , they'd probably bring it back to you tomorrow, otherwise , its going on Sale mate.

Do you know the serial number and other details. Best option you repost your story at Tradezone Dispute Corner..

The fact that they were persistent in asking to go back to ur hse means they're afraid of losing their jobs. Mebe they gonna pretend to help u look for it n then place it back n say "hey! There it is. We found it".

I say let them go back to ur house. This time make sure ur at home n see what happens.

Same (bleep) happened to me 6 years ago. Next time, who ever stranger that have to get into our homes to fix/install/service stuff, always keep an eye out on them. It was the air-conditioner servicer who took my Nokia 7210.. I can't speak of this anymore.. cry.gif

My Sony alarm clock went missing after some wireman install aircon in my room.

And Van de Hul RCA also went missing after some guy installed a Karaoke System for my dad...

Both cases I was not in...my mom was in around during installation.

And yes, they also challenge me to prove they took it

These installer will be more cautious. Imagine every of the house the installer went, and later the owner called back to hq to report of their missing item, if I'm the person-in-charge from Astro, of course I'll feel suspicious over the installer eventhough I don't have any proof. To TS. I wish you luck in getting back your PSP. Do update us on the story.

Hey guys & gals,

The problem with making a police report is I lack any evidence to make any prosecution hence it carries no weight. I do not wish for the installer "boys" to make another visit to my residence for all I know they bring a bunch of people to help me "find" the missing PSP. Just a heads up to everyone to keep an eye out for this people.

Lastly I have emailed to astro on my issue will update on their reply.

Make another police report. Fight fire with fire. Why be a victim suffering in silence!

So far works for me every time.

My experiences:-

(a) Subscribed to a popular IT magazine & paid full. Magazine management changed & they refused to honour my subscription. Went into their forum & threaten to report to the revelant authorities & also make a police report. Got back the subscription.

(b) This one I like - When to a Money Changer in Sg. Wang to change RM1,000.00 to Renminbi (all in 100 note). When to China & all but 2 notes were counterfeit. Went back to the Money Changer to complain. Very action the Money Changer. Ask me for the resit but I told him you did not give me one in the first place. Since he refused to layang me I threaten to report to the revelant authorities like Minstry of Consumer Affairs, Bank Negara & also the police. When he heard Bank Negara he quickly changed for me. Some more at a higher rate since the Renminbi has gone up.

© This one I like also - When to a stall in Kepong at night for dinner. After dinner cannot move out because a car was blocking behind my car. Honk my car horn for a couple of minutes. Nobody appeared. Got fed up & walk to the nearest Police Pondok & reported. The policement was kind enough to carry me on his motorbike back. He shouted whose car is this. Then one Chinese man came out & he was just sitting nearby opposite his car. The policeman told him off.

There are a couple more but the 3 above are the ones I remmenbered best. Maybe because I am a Gov Pensioner & I know what to do in this kind of situations.

Don't be afraid. Assert you rights

Thanks

Actually, in Evirober's case. I wouldn't play around oso coz they know the house. If it was some case where the other party don't have our adress then ok. U never know.......... there's a lot of uncivilized ppl nowadays. Some of these young fellas don't think or don't care about consequences 1.

Anyway those fellas will lose their jobs soon enuf, if a few more customers call in regarding theft. The management will surely know that after so many complaints, those installers r dirty.

Don't worry, the police will do the investigation & collecting of evidence. If you are really worry just call up Bukit Aman for assurance. When you mentioned Bukit Aman, all people involved whether suspects, witnesses or the local policemen will be very cooperative.

If it were to happen to me I would have got my barang back asap. My apology, no offense meant.

Thanks

Added on March 24, 2010, 5:48 pmPlease read below if anyone interested. Thanks.

Many years back my brother-in-law (BIL) old Isuzu Trooper was stolen in PJ. He made a police report & after the stated period he got paid by the insurance company being a Comprehensive 1st party coverage.

He was still looking for another Isuzu Trooper as replacement. One day he was in this car dealer lot in the Klang Valley & saw an Isuzu Trooper he likes. Went to have a look & the more he look the more it looks like his stolen Trooper. He was a bit skeptic about it. So the next day he brought his son along. Both of them inspected the Trooper thoroughly & came to a conclusion that it was indeed his stolen Isuzu Trooper.

They left quietly & my BIL reported to the police. The police said they will do their job but my BIL must agreed to cooperate fully with them even if the case were to be brought to the court.

The next day the police went to the car dealer & inquired about the owner of the Trooper. A couple of days later they brought the owner in as a suspect for stealing the vehicle.

Off course the vehicle no. was different but the police managed to determined that the engine & chassis nos. have been tampered with. My BIL said they have the special equipment where they managed to restored back the original engine & chassis nos. Maybe the tampering was not done professionally. And indeed the engine & chassis nos.belong to my BIL stolen Trooper After interrogation, collecting of evidences, etc the person concerned was charged in court, found guilty & sentenced. My BIL was the prime witness for the prosecution.

He got back his Isuzu Trooper in a better condition than before it was stolen with something like new seating, paint etc.

Anyway there was this interesting question I asked him. This was; why did he bothered to make a police report in order to get back his Isuzu Trooper when the insurance company has already paid him.
He told me he was looking for a replacement a long time & when he saw what looks like his stolen Isuzu Trooper he went all out to get it back. He praised the police for a job well done.

After the court case the vehicle belonged to the insurance company. You know what! he managed to persuade the insurance company to sell it back to him for a song. And until now he is happily driving his Isuzu Trooper & nothing untoward incidents happened to him from day one he reported to the police to the day he bought back the vehicle from the insurance company.

Thanks for reading this long winded story.

Thanks

I dont think TS will get a proper response at acceptable time period.

Better to lodge a police complaint, or just dont make fuss about it.

End of dispute lor..

Heya people..

This morning the supervisor called me to apologize on the issue and says its his fault this happen. He asked if there was any information about the PSP I told him that his boys were very persistent on coming to my place to settle it however their (boys) reply to the supervisor was they didt see it at all.

The supervisor continues to apologize on the matter and says his willing to pay for the missing psp. I informed that its unfair for me take his money as I do not have any evidence plus any wrong accusation could lead to problems as they know where i stay.

He says he will talk to his boys and get back to me. He continues to say his sorry for this trouble and please do not report this incident to astro.

Will update when I can...

If this is the case, IMHO:-

(a) Thank him & accept his compensation.

(b) Don't deal with his boys anymore.

© Don't have to report to Astro. The spirit of live & let live. Give him a chance since he has made a kind gesture to compensate you for your loss. I am sure he will "taro his boys kau kau"

Thanks

seems to me like the supervisor is a very responsible person by willing to compensate on your loss..

if it was me, I certainly won't take the offer for compensation..unless its truly their fault and willing to apologize for it..not nice taking other ppl money on random accusation..im just more interested in finding the truth

TS, hope u manage to settle ur dispute nice and easy..

if i were you i'd take the compensation

Less hassle, you don't want to waste their time and you don't want to waste yours too.
Who knows, maybe the next time they come more things get missing
