i got my unit 50v20k one month ago. was told that the next batch will be in August.
My opinion on the unit is that it is a Good TV. I compared the Avatar (BD) played on 50v20 and Sony 60 inch LED (RP 19000), I wonder who will ever buy this Sony model. So jerky in motion.
50V20K auto-detects BD and plays with cinema mode 24p/sec, the result is perfect! I have no regret buying it.

I have seen the Sony u mention, they have enabled motionflow to high on the set to give the ultra digital look, thats why it looks weird, Sony really does not mess up the 24p settings unless someone selects a wrong option. I am curious to see if the V20 is actually refreshing at 96Hz or 48Hz. Edit: The V20 does indeed refresh at 96Hz. This post has been edited by anfieldude: Jul 6 2010, 06:43 PM

Speaking of motion, anyone seeing fifa world cup in HD on the V20?
Notice if you turned IFC on, the ball goes all weird-shaped when kicked high, travelling over the crowd of people in the background?
Anybody noticed that?

Thats the disadvantages of motion interpolation. I normally advise to turn it off for everything...

Actually my wife noticed something, before the match start, and the player were lining up during national anthem etc.. the camera will close up to each player face and start panning quite fast.. she noticed there's like a uneven gradient/paint like color on each player face skin tone... it only happen during close up...

Its posterization or colour banding, it can be due to the display or the broadcast, in this case its in the broadcast, there is not enuf information and bit depth. My PS3 just have latest firmware updated and now having Deep Color™ feature supported. Just nice for my upcoming 50V20

Anyone bought the panasonic extended warranty for either the 42V20 or 50V20? What are the prices and the differences compared with insurance and coverage given by some electical shop (eg, SenQ, Best)?

Hi Just have a query. Sorry if it is a dumb question. apart from the size, is there any other difference between 42V20 and 50V20? Any additional features that the 50V has that the 42V doesn't? In other words apart from being bigger is there any additional benefit if we buy 50V? I saw the spec sheet taken from a shop and both are similar apart from size but I just want to be sure. Thanks. sorry for the noob question.

Official Panasonic webpage offers 3-year warranty (3rd, 4th and 5th year) for rm400 (50V20k). You will have 1 year time to purchase this extended warranty. 1st 2 years are original warranty period if you register online. This post has been edited by ngbh-lwt: Jul 8 2010, 11:47 AM

They should be overlapped. Shop warranty is by the shop, and the service call should be go to the shop or their appointed agents during the warranty period. They might then get your faulty unit to be sent to panasonic for repair, on their cost. Panasonic warranty is needless to describe further. By the price you said Rm489 by the shop, i do not think it is a steal. Better go for Panasaonic.

I was brief by the shop sales person that panny warranty does not cover transport. Meaning if your 50" is faulty, you will have to bring that TV to the nearest panny service center. Whereas SenQ sales person said their warranty covers everything, from the point to take your faulty unit to the service center, everything involved in the repair, and then bring back to the place the pickup, put back to the state it is when they collect it..... is this true? I asked the panny person during the Vierra road show, in the bus. They keep saying they do not know details of the warranty... This post has been edited by pgkia: Jul 8 2010, 10:17 PM

The extended warranty purchased from the shops are actually from an insurance company. It is like buying insurance for the 3rd, 4th and 5th year. In the event the tv is faulty, call the insurance toll free or helpdesk number provided in the insurance form and quote your insurance form number for repairs. Or you can call the shop where you bought the extended warranty, they can call the insurance on your behalf since they have all your record when you purchase the tv from them. The insurance company will call Panasonic to attend to the fault. Panasonic will charge the insurance company for the repairs + house call. I was told this is how the extended warranty works (from the shop). I am not sure it works this way in a real situation.

From my understanding, as long as the warranty valid under Panasonic Malaysia - for LCD/Plasma - Authorised Panasonic personnel will drop by to your house to pickup plus having initial checking/troubleshooting.
This happened to my LCD Panel.

Call Customer Service to find out more if you can More info, Panasonic charge Rm250 per visit if the unit is not under warranty. Exclude parts. So I think it is worth buying the extended warranty. This post has been edited by ngbh-lwt: Jul 9 2010, 12:21 PM
