Better for you to go with CQ42 as CQ41 is already consider old and the spec is just so-so only...want under RM2k then maybe you can take a look at Lenovo G455

personally i prefer the compaq because of it's look... i love it, looks sleek and professional. and the keyboard is good too.

after a year or so, if you so happen to reformat your laptop, i don't think you would want to reinstall back the outdated junks right? i would use the latest version and change the key to the one on the back of the laptop and then download the latest version of the junks.

HP laptops are usually better built and quality. But acer is fast catching up. Anyway you should go for at least an i5 if you want a reasonable investment.

from what i heard, right now the brand that still provide cds/dvds is dell. the rest of the em have to burn own copies from the pre-installed machine.

you can always create the CD yourself.... dont think this is a decisive point to get a laptop in this era lol

btw, is there any step by step guide on how to create your own windows and driver recovery cd (without those junkware) ?

there is a program to allow you to burn the recovery cds. i haven't able to successfully create them yet (required 3 dvds) for the factory settings recovery. i got an error in the program which wasted two of my dvds... if you are able to get your hands on a win7 installer, you can install using that and change your rightful key. the junks are available at lenovo website (ala dell style)
