 Linux Squid Server with Outlook, Outlook not working with squid Proxy

cry.gif does anyone know how to configure the Linux Squid proxy server to allow microsoft outlook express to receive mail?

outlook express receives mail via POP/IMAP. Squid is a HTTP Proxy. Unless I'm missing out something here (I dun use OE), dont think u can ler...

hmn .. i think squid do nothing to your mail.. it doesnt use the same port as our email normally use....

thank! i found all information in google liao! yes squid nothing to do with my email issue! the mistake i make is at the router! i deny all request including port 21. 25 and 110. that why make outlook express cant receive email, and i plan upgrade my office 80 pc to to use thenderbird soon.

problem solved when i reconfigure my linux box act as a router, firewall, DHCP and proxy. set the firewall to only accept http and https from squid only, so when user request website must go through squid, but pop imap smtp will pass through firewall and router!

so .. since ur office got 80+ pc, just an advice that u need to set up ur own mail server.... for better handling of network traffic.

i just finished install firewall, web server, dhcp, dns and router! going to install AVG soon after that will look into mail server!

Use NAT enable the NAT on Red Hat.
you will received ur mail and other like icq,msn messager,yahoo messager also.

well i use NAT filtering! user wont able to use those chating program smile.gif except pop and smtp port

 

Change to:
