Anyone from/near the Selayang area here? My speed was bad last week, but it progressed to good and then regressed back in the last two or three days, finally hitting a torrent download low of 15KBps last night. This morning I couldnt even connect to streamyx, and now my downloaded is at 25KBps. MU: 4KBps. RS: 20KBps. I used to get 150KBps on all these consistently on my 1Mbps line before! This goddamn better be temporary.

My line is still not fixed! Sometimes I still cant access certain US/Europe websites, sometimes the IP address I'm connected to gives me 0.1mbps speed, sometimes the line is fast and all of a sudden (with no disconnect) it becomes slow.
Could resetting the port solve the problem? Lazy to call tmnet, when I call they ask me to check my router, check my firewall, check my antivirus. Antivirus my ass. And sometimes the CSR will helpfully reset the port, but if its a d*** on the other line they wont do shit. This post has been edited by QuickFire: May 10 2010, 10:34 PM |

Hmm, didn't touch the internet for 5 days, I come back it's all totally shit. Torrents look pretty good still, but surfing is impossible, and I cant even properly refresh my Steam servers.

Most of the time my torrents are downloading at around 20-30KBps total, but sometimes I can get a sustained top speed of 150KBps, but usually not for more than half an hour. I hope it's simply because of the cable problem and not because of some new throtlling initiative.

Some of the IP range are shit when it comes to RS and MU. I basically have two speeds when it comes to RS: 5Kb and 130+KB. When I get the former I just reconnect my line until I get the latter speed. Note I mostly get 60.48 and 60.50, 60.49 and 60.53 are quite common also, and 115.xxx and 118.xxx rare. I never get any other IP address. And I also notice that even if 60.48.xxx might be shit for RS/MU, it doesnt mean 60.48.yyy will be shit as well. I cant seem to pinpoint any range that consistently performs well/bad.

Anyone of you guys from the selayang/kepong area?
I have this weird problem, whereby my connection is stable and fast, and all of a sudden it just drops dead. I'm happily surfing the net and downloading at full speed, and the next moment I cant load any website (not even local ones like lowyat.net) and my torrent downloads drop to around 5KBps. The IP address remains the same, so there is no disconnection. It has been happening for quite some time, but I thought maybe it was only my line. I got my new streamyx coolunipack account activated yesterday, and the problem is still there. It doesnt happen terribly often, but sometimes it does come in waves. So now I'm thinking maybe it's my Linksys WAG120N modem-router. I just switched to the Riger modem provided by tmnet. I'll see how it goes. Has this happened to anyone? |

QUOTE(lcleong @ Jun 4 2010, 07:00 PM) from selayang here, same shit happened to me this few days... but still ok ok... try restart modem... Yeah restarting the modem almost always solves the problem, although sometimes even after obtaining a new IP the speed is still impossibly slow. Oh well, at least the problem isn't my line/modem. Guess I can tmnet to give them an earful now. |
