i think its the ps3 slim problem... i read on another forum that the HDMI component in ps3 slim is of lower and cheaper quality hence this problem.. another factor could be because the ps3 slim has no grounding (power only 2 pin) could this be affecting the HDMI output?
i have a LG 42" LCD which worked great at full hd using some cheap HDMI cable running on my old phat ps3...
once i got the slim, i can't use the same cable, it shows some weird display on the screen at full hd, other resolution no problem.
so i tested with a monster cable, can see but i get white dots all over the screen like snowing...
my lg comes with 3 hdmi ports and i found that the 3rd port the effect is less but still there... so now no choice but to run at 1080i...
but then again i test on my friend's full hd (philip), no problem what so ever.. so i think it depends on what TV ur using?
anyway seems to me the only solution is to either get a new TV (preferably sony) or get a PS3 component cable...
