Why X-540? That wouldn't give you true surround sound

Get cheap cheap speakers first, save money to get better speakers later, or just get cheap home theater with optical input for true surround nod.gif

i kinda confirm my cable faulty though, it wont able to broadcast 1080p , when changed another cable it works fine

Cable not 1.3 may be.. guess it could be an old 1.2 causing this since you can still get image from other settings with that cable

I have a few bad experience with Philips products, home entertainment ones in particular.

is there any noticeable difference in PS3 Picture quality between HDMI and Component?
mine is 40' LCD TV that support FullHD (component and HDMI..720p and 1080p)
*
Some claim no, some say yes. I myself do notice significant difference between the 2 though with HDMI being more crisp.

i have samsung LCD monitor, VGA port...so if i wanna use ps3 to connect my vga lcd monitor its possible rite?

what if from ps3 HDMI cable to LCD monitor VGA cable means converter from HDMI - VGA..

comments appreciated....
*
I'm afraid that's not possible, both are different signals thus you'd need a converter to do that which isn't cost efficient. Get a new monitor instead.

For TV you can get that Toshiba 24" mentioned, for monitor you have lots of choices for that budget (RM700).

i = interlaced, 30Hz line on display for every other 60Hz line.

p = progressive, all lines displayed at 60Hz

I heard IPS panel not very PS3 friendly. Is that true?

Currently am using 19" (most prolly 20") dell ultrasharp monitor that I bought many years back for rm1600++. I am looking for larger screen prolly 24" would be just fine but what I noticed most monitors that priced rm700 and below do not have the features that i fancy like the dell that i use now. I fancy height, tilt, swivel adjustment. I fancy wall-mounted ready. I fancy HDMI. I fancy full HD. But none seem to give me all that. Well except for those that priced rm1k and above. Thats why until now, I have not buy new screen. Maybe i should spend rm1600 then i could find a screen with the features i fancy.

IPS isn't very well suited for games in general due to slow response time and potential input lag. But it's hard to switch to TN panels if you are used to IPS due to its superior display. There's a Dell Ultrasharp 22" model available, with the same mount as yours. And the biggest attraction is the RM609 price tag. The only thing missing is HDMI port, but you can always use DVI instead like what you are using now.
