Hello to all pro here. Need your advice to my problem I encountered. I have Sharp Aquos LCD TV LC42A66M (confirmed full HD). I recently purchased PS3 Slim 250GB (SG). I set PS3 display output at 1080p. Intermittenly, my LCD TV screen would flicker together with loss of sound, blackout (but sound still on). This happens even on menu screen. This problem would not happen at 1080i setting.

I have tried the following HDMI cable:
1) Non-branded 1.8m HDMI Cable - (RM40)
2) Tinybee 1.8m High Speed HDMI Cable v1.3 - PS3 compatible (RM60)
3) Giraffe 2.0m HDMI Extreme AV (RM99)

I'm lost now, don't know which HDMI cable compatible with my LCD TV. rclxub.gif

Anyone could recommend compatible HDMI cable for my LCD TV? notworthy.gif

Change ur PS3 output to 1080i, not 1080p. I had similar problem coz i'm using LC42A77M with PS3 Fat and that's what I did. Not sure if it'll help for urs though..

Thanks for your suggestion. I'm doing that right now. But kind of wasted the hardware capability. Anyway, will continue to search the right HDMI cable by try and error.

I'm using Aquos too but A65M... really liking the picture's clarity and color tone...
Setting up is with non branded HDMI cable... + optical cable to a Yamaha Receiver with 5.1
1080P all the way... depending on games res... it'll auto down or return scale either to 720p or 1080p...
only downside is upon starting up d Aquos takes a bit of time to SYNC with my PS3 120GB so will miss d PS3 starting up logo... no biggie
(if d TV is already set to 1080p with other devices then upon starting up d PS3 then will be able to see d logo..)

Thanks for your reply. notworthy.gif

I guess I have to tried whatever non-branded HDMI I could find to test out, rather than buying expensive cable. sweat.gif

Yeah, I agreed with you. Aquos LCD really shows very good picture quality from PS3, both in colour tone and contrast.

you're welcome  icon_rolleyes.gif

btw have u solve yr tv problem yet?
my guess is not d cable fault but I reckon  d tv's faulty...
I would never settle for a full HD TV runnin' on 1080i

maybe u should get yr TV's warranty out...  thumbup.gif

Unfortunately, my flickering/disconnection issue not yet settled. rclxub.gif

However, I'm certain both my LCD TV and newly purchased PS3 slim are not faulty. This is because I able to output at 1080p from my previous Xbox 360. Also, while purchasing the PS3 slim, I did test at 1080p as well at game shop LCD TV and the display was perfect. hmm.gif

I just need to find the right HDMI cable right now.

Thanks for your advice. thumbup.gif

Thanks to all who helped and made suggestion to my 1080p flickering issue on PS3 Slim with Aquos A66M LCD. Will try out your suggestions. BTW, I have tried all 3 ports on my LCD TV, still same problem.

Really appreciate your assistance.

Have always been a one brand person however I am yet to find a brand that is actually suitable for my current hardware. Hence when I saw someone posting that he got his Belkin HDMI too work on his a66 I was aesthetic but it didn't work on mine sad.gif

Will most likely starting posting HDMI cables in the Garage Sales soon.
*
I understand your frustration. I also have the same problem with Sharp LCD A66. I had purchased 5 HDMI cables! cry.gif I'm thinking to sell all my HDMI cables at garage sales. Anyone interested? brows.gif

The last cable I purchased is Sony Official High Speed HDMI v1.3a cable at RM199. This cable is most stable but still occassionally flicker or disconnected (blackout).

Conclusion, PS3 Slim is not compatible with Sharp LCD A66 at 1080p. Set at 720p. Almost all games are running at 720p currently. I have tried out MGS4 at 720p and it looks good and similar to my eyes in comparison to 1080p. rolleyes.gif So, don't waste money try any other cables.

You are indeed very lucky. May I know what settings you use on your TV? Such as Game/PC mode in AV, Full Screen/Dot By Dot, HDMI Auto View On/Off, etc. and which HDMI port are you using? What is the HDMI cable brand/model you are using now? I would really appreciate if you could share your knowledge.

However, my TV still flicker sometimes and blackout once in a while. doh.gif

Just out of curiousity, which HDMI port are you using now and also what manufacturer/model HDMI cable you are using?

Thanks again. rclxms.gif
