you're welcome  icon_rolleyes.gif

btw have u solve yr tv problem yet?
my guess is not d cable fault but I reckon  d tv's faulty...
I would never settle for a full HD TV runnin' on 1080i

maybe u should get yr TV's warranty out...  thumbup.gif

Unfortunately, my flickering/disconnection issue not yet settled. rclxub.gif

However, I'm certain both my LCD TV and newly purchased PS3 slim are not faulty. This is because I able to output at 1080p from my previous Xbox 360. Also, while purchasing the PS3 slim, I did test at 1080p as well at game shop LCD TV and the display was perfect. hmm.gif

I just need to find the right HDMI cable right now.

Thanks for your advice. thumbup.gif

Thanks for your suggestion. I'm doing that right now. But kind of wasted the hardware capability. Anyway, will continue to search the right HDMI cable by try and error.

Don't think it has anything to do with cables. Do a search on PS3 with Sharp TV and u'll find out a lot of information. I did the same earlier, (Swapped various cables to get this to work) but still the same. Ended up setting it at 1080i. No worries, i don't think ur eyes will be sensitive enough to notice the difference anyway.. tongue.gif

PS: Lots of ppl (i googled) tested and found out that Port 4 usually works well. Did u try that? Not sure why this is happening at all.. maybe some Si fu here can enlighten us a bit on this? I have no problems running for other things (my pc runs perfectly fine and tested dedicated bluray players) no problem too. Just with PS3 setting at 1080p.

By the way, during flickering, do u hear any static noise or "chiak chiak" sound coming out from your TV?

Here's some solution that I found back then, maybe u wanna try it out? lol..

Good luck!

3.5k can get you a lot of decent lcd tv's now! Samsung, Sharp or even Sony.
Samsung in Sunway Pyramid was selling a 40inch series 6 for around that price. Ignore price tag just ask sales person. Might be cheaper at Low Yat or
Legend in SS2.

Hello to all pro here. Need your advice to my problem I encountered. I have Sharp Aquos LCD TV LC42A66M (confirmed full HD). I recently purchased PS3 Slim 250GB (SG). I set PS3 display output at 1080p. Intermittenly, my LCD TV screen would flicker together with loss of sound, blackout (but sound still on). This happens even on menu screen. This problem would not happen at 1080i setting.

I have tried the following HDMI cable:
1) Non-branded 1.8m HDMI Cable - (RM40)
2) Tinybee 1.8m High Speed HDMI Cable v1.3 - PS3 compatible (RM60)
3) Giraffe 2.0m HDMI Extreme AV (RM99)

I'm lost now, don't know which HDMI cable compatible with my LCD TV.

Anyone could recommend compatible HDMI cable for my LCD TV?

I have a Sharp LC37A65M and using Belkin HDMI cables. Works great. A cheap HDMI cable has blinking dots @ 1080p 60Hz. If I drop it to 1080p 24Hz it's ok. I use that cable for the WDTV live.

edit: wrong quote. ehehe.

Samsung 40" FullHD LCD TV LA40B550 with Belkin HDMI cables. 4 HDMI ports and a USB 2.0 facilities, I'm more than pleased with it.

Regards. Joey

p.s: Model code was edited. It is LA40B550. Sorry for the typographical error made.

i think its the ps3 slim problem... i read on another forum that the HDMI component in ps3 slim is of lower and cheaper quality hence this problem.. another factor could be because the ps3 slim has no grounding (power only 2 pin) could this be affecting the HDMI output?

i have a LG 42" LCD which worked great at full hd using some cheap HDMI cable running on my old phat ps3...

once i got the slim, i can't use the same cable, it shows some weird display on the screen at full hd, other resolution no problem.

so i tested with a monster cable, can see but i get white dots all over the screen like snowing...

my lg comes with 3 hdmi ports and i found that the 3rd port the effect is less but still there... so now no choice but to run at 1080i...

but then again i test on my friend's full hd (philip), no problem what so ever.. so i think it depends on what TV ur using?

anyway seems to me the only solution is to either get a new TV (preferably sony) or get a PS3 component cable...

I'm using the Samsung series 5. I had the same issues with HDMI 1 too.. making 'Crackling sound' and jumpy pictures.. Then I changed the HDMI cable and it works with no problems now.

Thanks to all who helped and made suggestion to my 1080p flickering issue on PS3 Slim with Aquos A66M LCD. Will try out your suggestions. BTW, I have tried all 3 ports on my LCD TV, still same problem.

Really appreciate your assistance.

3D TV? I'm still sticking to LCD monitor and LCD TV. Couldn't step on the LED steps yet. Too pricey at the moment. Honestly, I wouldn't even be thinking of getting a 3D TV very soon. It's not just feasible for me yet. Maybe there's people that can afford it though.

I bought mine from ALL IT Hypermarket Sdn. Bhd. last time. Ever since I took it out from the packaging until today, no problem or whatsoever. I'm satisfy with the product. I have two Belkin HDMI cables (I have one which is about one year plus and another one is a few months old) and both are working perfectly. No complaint or whatsoever so far.

Regards, Joey
