U know the doors very well! Just checking with u, our Malaysian standard wooded door comes with thickness of 1 3/8 inch? the 1 3/4 inch is way too expensive? I enquire coz i wanted to buy some locks for my yet to build house. It says it's not for 1 3/8 inch.

What is the range of price for a good solid door? I need to budget for my new house.

before u start to enquire bout range u need to measure your own house actual door size each one of them that you intend to change otherwise its very hard to give estimation as standard size door prices differ a lot from special size door prices and the model n type of wood as well as grade n thickness of door panel n the door itself affect the price as well. Remember to check whether your house door frame is metal or wood type,if its metal type then you will have problem of hanging those door with triple glazed tempered glass door as they are very heavy and the factory fitted hinges can't hold the weight. The door might one day collaspe and cause accident becos those door are somewhere between 60-120kg depend whether its single or double door aka double equal leafs door. smile.gif

nowadays developer goes for cost cutting n cheap skate method, they will install al-cheapo metal frame for your front door. Its not for your benefit of preventing termite, its more to looking after their profit margin and make their installation job easier compare to a wooden door frame.

Usually those lock some are for thicker door like 1 1/2" which is extremely expensive n need to special order with factory, most shop will not keep spare door for it.

Thank you very much for the very reply. Actually I am in the middle of drawing up the plan for the house. I want to use only standard size door, to limit the cost overrun. That's why I need to check out the door dimension etc. I saw on ebay there's some very nice door lock for the front door, but it's stated it's only for 1 3/4 inch thickness, hence the question.

Those locks are meant for door size of thickness 1 3/4" but most doors available locally are size of 1 3/8", so if u intend to buy those lock from e-bay make sure the lock can modify otherwise don't buy them you will waste your money.

that will depend on your budget and how high end you are looking for.

p/s Some people buy thing by just looking at the price without checking the quality, wood species and grade. They might look good n cheap but the seller never told they didn't go thru proper "ovening" process, you end up getting a lemon. Few months down the road you will find out that a lot of wood dust start to appear on your door surface and you start to wonder what went wrong. smile.gif
