I think you could try to contact any of the insurance agent and find out from them. I know they do cover for theft and lightning but not sure about the warranty extension.

If there's any manufacturing defects, you should be able to detect it within the first year of usage. I had owned a couple LCD and Plasma for about 3 years. Works fine. Only came with 1 yr warranty Even though I have a 5yr warranty + 1yr insurance that comes with my new plasma set. I doubt that the warranty/insurance will cover wear and tear (if any). Don't worry too much about it, just enjoy the new TV

Yes it's not cheap. A close friend of mine having some problem with his LCD recently. Gave the service center a call and their diagnose the tuner is faulty. Need to replace the whole board. Cost??? RM1.2K.. and the set is barely 3 years. Soo paying 300 now or 1.2K later.. you decide.

I thought it's extended warranty from Sony? Else why it's called Sony Extended Warranty? As what I understand, the Sony product under SEW will be repaired by Sony authorised service centre.

i think in 2 years you'll be wanting a new tv. i know i do after 2 years. So why worry about it. i'd say 1 year is sufficient. After 2 years, sell it and upgrade while u still can. At the pace of technology is going, 2-3 years is as far as we can go.
Just my opinion by the way.

For ur point of view, i think u r looking for coverage for repairing if incase there is a breakdown for ur lcd tv rgt? In tht case the insurance company wont cover for that.

The little things that are often taken for granted. Given that you already have a 2yr warranty, don't forget to invest in a decent surge protector. Though, insurance may cover it. It'll be a pain to make the claim including the wait time. At one time in a rented apartment, I had both my TV and Vaio fried! Even if the power is off as long as you're plugged in, the surge will cook your appliances. Read the papers today, heads up lighting season is upon us Get it if you don't have one already. The problem of mine is tight budget to change my Lcd/Tv every 3 or 4 years
