Hiya, RH9 is using XFree86 4.3 by default. So you know what you should do. Cheers.

Mesa is the driver bundled with XFree86 for OpenGL..

try "rpm -ivh --force" the package name..

Uh, there might be other ways to do that..
I prefer brute force all the time..

fglrx doesn't have that much of improvement over the stock Mesa driver..

And be mindful that RH9 is buggy cry.gif Anyway, explore around and hope you'll like it.

If you're a redhat user, of course ldconfig is there...
Try "locate ldconfig"
If my memory still serves me well, ldconfig is inside /sbin

Anyway, I guess you su from a non root user. That's why the enviroment variables are being ditched.

Well, IMHO, I would not recommend configure/make/make install on a Redhat system. Sooner or later dependency problem will occur somewhere down the road.

Last time I tried, xine allows me to build into rpm using rpmbuild.

If ldconfig doesn't help, try

rpmbuild -ta xine-lib-1.0.tar.gz

It will place a rpm of xine into /usr/src/redhat/RPM/i386

Hope that helps, cheers!
