Im new. However, I have a question. Should I reall forward port? Under what circumstances only should I forward port? I currently do not know my router's username and password so should I ask the guy who sold it to me?

Right now, when I play L4D, there's like a 0.5 second lag. Is that counted as good?

You port forward only if you had weird problem on connection i.e. can see friend status but cannot initiate communication.

0.5 second lag in terms of game play or connection? if gameplay hiccups is normal, blame your ISP for that.
