My PC broken. And am giving up using PC as entertainment center. Can recommend me a good HD multimedia player that have good audio capability for music listening?

Music = 65%
Video (Movie, TV Series) = 35%

Or do i need to have a good DAC?

I think you can get the YangXi S7T from "YangXi". According to it, it can play good music. Please read his post.

Good luck.

It says there:

"Cirrus Logic DAC used in Yangxi S6 - CS4352 (*PS3, Xtreamer also use this)

How about Ac Ryan Play On? Does it using the same DAC. How's the sound signature for the DAC?

if you are using an AV receiver, just use any player with optical/coax output (chances are the receiver will digitize the analog inputs anyway, unless you use source direct)

I'm sorry, i don't really understand. You mean i need to use digital connection? But that's not good for music right? blush.gif If possible i need to find a player that has a good built in DAC.

I aim for Play On but it cannot support APE. And i need to know whether the built in DAC is competetive or not. Can't find anywhere about the info.

Note:

1) All AV receivers already have DACs built in

2) All analog inputs to AV receivers will by default be digitized to enable processing and bass management.

Options

1) if you are using speakers with good bass and do not need a subwoofer to listen to music, then it might make sense to use an external DAC that is better than the one in the Pioneer. Then select direct (or similar) mode on the Pioneer to bypass the internal processing. (see Note #2)

2) If you need the subwoofer, then you should just use the digital out from the player to the receiver. This is because the receiver will digitize the analog input to be able to route the low frequency signals to the subwoofer. So even if you have a good external DAC, the resulting audio will be from the Pioneer's internal DACs

First of all, thanks for the reply.I own a PSB Alpha B1 as stereo speaker. But your 1st option you gave me was my first question blush.gif I need to know what is the best HD multimedia player that has a good and competitive DAC in order for me to listen the music with analog output. Digital output for music listening is not good enough for me. And @TrynRex has already gave me the answer, but since i aimed for AC Ryan Play On, i need to compare YangXi S7T and AC Ryan Play On now. Which has better DAC?

And your 2nd option is what i was doing. from my PC to the AVR. blush.gif

With the PSB Alpha B1, don't you think might still need a sub? the freq response is 65Hz ~ 21kHz

Err no offence, I own the speaker for almost a year already complete with the stand and i'm satisfy with sound signature. It's louder/bass-y than you think and what was described in the specification. At least with my ears. biggrin.gif

And you don't have a subwoofer in your system? well in that case you'll be fine wink.gif

What DAC chips does the Pioneer have?
