QUOTE(pancho @ Mar 15 2010, 01:06 PM) Can sum1 tell me what the different with D90 and D5000? D5000 can only use AF-S lens, which are more expensive than an equivalent non-AFS lens that D90 can useIf I'm not mistaken, Ken Rockwell more recomended D5000 compare to D90 or D300. How bout the lens? Can D5000 use same lens with D60 or D90? so D90 is expensive camera but u can get cheaper lens... and d5000 is cheaper camera but need to get expensive lenses ;p |

QUOTE(mibs @ Mar 24 2010, 02:31 PM) I think Lightroom is a Auto Mode by all its preset. Photoshop is Manual Mode, more control, more option. i dun think lightroom = auto n photoshop = manual lah. photoshop have more features...lightroom also can manual n photoshop also can auto using filters heheh.By the way, I went to lowyat today, I went to shop ( beside Shangri-La - right side ) they sell D90 set for RM3999 including 8GB memory+tripod+Bag and its under Nikon Malaysia warranty( they said la ) Ok ke? If ok tomorrow I go there and buy-la photoshop got layers, masking, better selection tools etc... lightroom only have to rely on brush tool. but ofcoz lightroom interface is much easier...impossible for photoshop to adopt it |

QUOTE(zellleonhart @ Apr 3 2010, 12:42 AM) yeap, i am thinking also whether to upgrade or not since i'm not funded. that's why u can see im already shooting 1 year+ but i only have a 2nd hand d40 and a kit lens. MAYBE lar, if u really want the D90, juz get 2nd hand again. before price drop is around 2700 think..dunno hows the pricing right nowHmm now many ppl are on money crisis.. I will see how much i can earn in the following 2 months holiday, if little then i will skip this. Next time when working straight away get D400 or D4 XD P/S: actually i have already eliminated the thought of upgrading body but today suddenly have this thought after seeing the price drop. I was brought away by the sudden wave of ppl getting cheap d90... Thinking again i should be careful in my spending =D btw us students have to be very patient lo... ur problem is low light, my problem is zoom hehe that's y i so easy kena poison by 24-70 like that Added on April 3, 2010, 2:26 ambtw, i've always wondered this. why this thread is not D90/D300/S thread? i think D300/s more suitable to group with D90... since D700/D3 etc is full frame dy... QUOTE(lost123 @ Apr 3 2010, 10:40 AM) yea same here.. was thinkin of gettin the d5000 or canon 550d before the price drop, but now considering the d90.. u wanna get 50mm f1.8 then u need D90 anyway... unless u wanna get 50mm f1.4G lah but, how is the d90 better than the d5000? can provide me some pros and cons pls? coz if its not much diff, then i would still go for the d5000 and save money to get the 50mm f1.8 and a bag. more pros of D90.. the LCD screen very nice, much better compared to D5000 (920k dots vs 230k dots). D90 got two scroll wheels, more buttons etc so u can change settings instantly. |

QUOTE(lost123 @ Apr 3 2010, 01:48 PM) no money for 50mm f1.4G.. I WISH! on a tight budget, so u say that the D90 would be more worth it? more lenses are compatible with the D90 bcuz of its internal motor issit? not really lah. D90 is generally worth it for long term. i think the best way is to decide what lens u wanna buy later. if me, all the lenses i want are AF-S anyway, so the internal AF motor does not matter to me. D90 is okay la to learn with...as long as u actually read up. D3000 also very hard to use if ppl dun want to learn how...but price difference hmmmm..nearly 1k.. hard to decide la.. i like the D5000 as well.. but seems like D90 is more worth it compared to the D5000.. but is D90 good for a noob like me? like this lah... how much is the maximum u want to spend? n what do u want to shoot most? QUOTE(zellleonhart @ Apr 3 2010, 02:10 PM) I see... so it's better i sell here ba~ or maybe keep as 2nd body/ let my sis use. shuuter count 14k already T.T i afraid i can't sell much... better sell here compared to trade in at shops lah..as with any other gadgets shutter count 14k is okay i guess. if can use as 2nd body. mana tau one day u get to shoot weddings or something. ur D40 use 24-70, ur D90 use 11-16 This post has been edited by dvlzplayground: Apr 3 2010, 04:25 PM |

QUOTE(benlaw @ Apr 3 2010, 04:27 PM) interested! but no money QUOTE(lost123 @ Apr 3 2010, 04:41 PM) Actually willing to spend less than 3k, but thinkin that since the D90 comes with 18-105, it would be worth it to get it together with the body.. ooh, i think moving on from lumix manual to nikon not hard at all. juz the difference is the exposure meter n compensation. i dunno why nikon, left is positive, right is negative..aiyah.. who teach them like that.. and, yes willing to learn.. ive been using the lumix FZ28 before this, the ability for FZ28 is kinda limited, altho with manual control and can use manual focus as well. but still its very different from a dslr.. im gonna use this for family stuff, like vacations, family events, family gathering, and whenever i find the chance to use it. Oh yea, and my dad wants to use it for construction site stuff. d90 + 18-105 memang very worth it... good camera + lens with good range. 50mm prime lens hard to do indoor group shots for ur family gathering...unless ur house very huge la. and ur family very small but then since 18-105 is AF-S...we're back to ur 1st question.... pair the 18-105 with D90 or D5000? |

QUOTE(lost123 @ Apr 3 2010, 05:14 PM) The d5000 comes with 18-55 while the d90 comes with 18-105.. so if i want the 18-105 on d5000 then i would have to get it seperate, which would defeat the purpose coz it would come up to about the same price. am i rite? oh and the 50mm f1.8 not f1.4(no money) i would use for stuff like individual shots like more close up shots. i dunno whether it would suit that purpose.. coz im a noob in this area.. oh ya true also...about RM3300 already. D90 it is then! QUOTE(skincladalien @ Apr 3 2010, 05:22 PM) first day field trip with my D90, everything was good except....fark that 1/200 flash sync, who teach them to downgrade from D40 one? kesian u... come la.. i trade my D40 with ur D90... no need topup... haha jk |

i think bullshit la price drop only for one batch. doesnt make sense. if they say price drop cuz wanna compete with 550D... it's not like after april ppl cannot buy 550D anymore, so why end the "promotion"?
seems like they juz wanna sell more D90, that's all. possibly stock clearance too. it's about time D90 get replacement. we're gonna see a spike in D5000 2nd hand sales soon..haha |

better turn off VR for panning, because u're purposely moving the camera anyway
nice panning shots btw! yeah i like how the brakes glow red hehe QUOTE(tun @ Apr 4 2010, 06:50 PM) for me, the benefit of f2.8 is better than the extra 50-105 range lah |
