D5000 can only use AF-S lens, which are more expensive than an equivalent non-AFS lens that D90 can use

so D90 is expensive camera but u can get cheaper lens... and d5000 is cheaper camera but need to get expensive lenses ;p

photoshop still needed for more specific PP lah, but most of the time lightroom is the way to go!

i mostly only use photoshop to put watermark only. got easy way to do in lightroom for web publishing?

i dun think lightroom = auto n photoshop = manual lah. photoshop have more features...lightroom also can manual n photoshop also can auto using filters heheh.

photoshop got layers, masking, better selection tools etc... lightroom only have to rely on brush tool. but ofcoz lightroom interface is much easier...impossible for photoshop to adopt it

we dont know how much u shoot... for me, 2 weeks in perth, 7.65GB. 10mp JPEG fine, 1856 pics

juz buy as much as u can. better if u can bring laptop or an external harddrive & card reader. later in china go find cybercafe to transfer ur pics when full

btw us students have to be very patient lo... ur problem is low light, my problem is zoom hehe that's y i so easy kena poison by 24-70 like that in the end i just try to set my mindset like this... juz shoot whatever my lens can shoot good. with my 35mm, i juz go shoot portrait n food all the time, wont bother shooting something far away, wont bother shoot locations that a UWA can do best. like that i'll feel happy with what i own rather than feel sad for what i dont own haha

u wanna get 50mm f1.8 then u need D90 anyway... unless u wanna get 50mm f1.4G lah

more pros of D90.. the LCD screen very nice, much better compared to D5000 (920k dots vs 230k dots). D90 got two scroll wheels, more buttons etc so u can change settings instantly.

not really lah. D90 is generally worth it for long term. i think the best way is to decide what lens u wanna buy later. if me, all the lenses i want are AF-S anyway, so the internal AF motor does not matter to me. D90 is okay la to learn with...as long as u actually read up. D3000 also very hard to use if ppl dun want to learn how...

like this lah... how much is the maximum u want to spend? n what do u want to shoot most?

better sell here compared to trade in at shops lah..as with any other gadgets

shutter count 14k is okay i guess. if can use as 2nd body. mana tau one day u get to shoot weddings or something. ur D40 use 24-70, ur D90 use 11-16 no need to change2 lens

ooh, i think moving on from lumix manual to nikon not hard at all. juz the difference is the exposure meter n compensation. i dunno why nikon, left is positive, right is negative..aiyah.. who teach them like that..

d90 + 18-105 memang very worth it... good camera + lens with good range. 50mm prime lens hard to do indoor group shots for ur family gathering...unless ur house very huge la. and ur family very small also 50mm wont be good for landscape shots during ur vacation. in that case, then 18-105 is ur best choice IMO.

but then since 18-105 is AF-S...we're back to ur 1st question.... pair the 18-105 with D90 or D5000?

oh ya true also...about RM3300 already. D90 it is then! 50mm nice for individual shots

i think bullshit la price drop only for one batch. doesnt make sense. if they say price drop cuz wanna compete with 550D... it's not like after april ppl cannot buy 550D anymore, so why end the "promotion"?

seems like they juz wanna sell more D90, that's all. possibly stock clearance too. it's about time D90 get replacement.

for me, the benefit of f2.8 is better than the extra 50-105 range lah
