QUOTE(maxh3h3 @ Apr 27 2010, 02:25 PM)
part of the reason for me to stay away from tamron is this
My cousin got 3 tamrons
18-270 VC
17-50 non VC
18-200 non VC
All 3 got problem
Too bad to be true

17-50 = aperture problem, i dont really know how to explain the problem here as its not my lens.
18-270 VC = same problem with u , have to reattach the lens then ok.
18-200 same problem.

maybe she is one of the most bad luck 1.

Just try take out your lens and put it back and power on
good luck to u
*
usually i turn it on and off den it will be okay, sometimes i need to switch it on and off for few times to make it work, solution for this issue?

QUOTE(celciuz @ Apr 27 2010, 02:33 PM)
I'm starting to think Tamron has bad QC. My friend's 17-50 VC all has focusing issue (front focus). 2 Canon mounts, 1 Nikon mount (Nikon mount changed 3-4 units already still same).
*
my 1750vc has no focusing problem, i done the point camera at 45 degree thingy and the focus is dead on, exactly where it suppose to be.

QUOTE(zio @ Apr 27 2010, 02:38 PM)
I think all third party lenses have QC issues, else it wouldn't be cheaper than the original brand tongue.gif

Probably why I prefer to buy them used and from people who used them extensively, because I know they went through the effort to find the perfect copy tongue.gif
*
QC problem i agree. i bring my 1750vc go for field trip like quarry area i come back and i see many visible dust inside the lens, it never happen to my 18105.

QUOTE(freddy manson @ Apr 27 2010, 02:46 PM)
So the alternative is
. Sigma 1850
. Sigma 1770

So far Sigma not much problem eh?
*
now im thinking to change to sigma 1750 OS, need stabilizer, find tat this features very useful.

Last I ask they don't have the 1750 only 1850 and 1770... And the 1770 have 2 variant...
*

only the sigma 1850 is constant aperture lens, all the 1770 is non constant aperture lenses. Maybe need to wait for some time for the new 1750 OS

expected price to be £594.00 / E799 (price from various website)

make up about 2500-2800 malaysia , that's is twice price of tammy.

but sure it is worth eying on it (i'll wait for the review  smile.gif   )
*
add another 700-900 i dont mind if the performance and the quality if the lens is good.

QUOTE(shinjun @ Apr 27 2010, 05:55 PM)
I rather spend more and get a 2nd hand AF-S 17-55mm f2.8 biggrin.gif
*
how much is the lens worth 2nd hand?

QUOTE(celciuz @ Apr 27 2010, 05:59 PM)
Issue is that 17-55 DX has no VR, I'm thinking of going for 16-35 f/4 VR though. Becomes UWA with FX, and a short ranged zoom at DX lol~
*
yup the nikon 1755 dun hav VR, 16-35 is tempting thumbup.gif

I am thinking should I get the battery grip.

Does it feels better and more stable using it with the kits lens?
*
yes u shud, the grip itself feel much better and it gives some xtra space for the little finger. i think the additional shutter button is very usefel when shooting in potrait mode.

Exactly, but so far didn't hear of anyone using 16-35 f/4 VR on crop sensor yet. Anybody here gonna try it out? biggrin.gif

Reviews says this lens is sharp, can even rival the 24-70 and 14-24.
*
for wideangle im goin for the tokina 116 hehe! using 1635 on DX will be wasted abit?

potrait as in vertical shooting right?
*
yea, vertical shoot. Coz w/o battery grip shooting vertical sometimes make ur wrist feel sore. erm, i got mine for 480, i didnt think much and juz buy ahha! but now my waranty sent to nikon service center edi.. the grip peel off sad.gif the warranty does not cover for this and i hav to pay rm110 for the grip change.

Getting 16-35 f/4 for similar range to 17-50 f/2.8 hehe, don't feel like spending so much for a DX only 17-55 Nikkor you see... upgrade in future also can't use aiseh.
*
16-17mm doesnt make alot difference but the f2.8 makes alot of difference haha. u planing to upgrade to FX anytime soon? brows.gif

Frankly I like the 5dmk2 more than the D3s. Mainly because 5dmk2 is cheaper biggrin.gif. But its a Canon T_T, if Nikon comes out a model equivalent to 5dmk2 at similar pricing, I'll grab one!
My bag, Lowepro Flipside 400 AW.

I don't think so, this bag is solely for camera. Little space left for accessories in front. My friend whom has similar setup as mine, is having a tough time with his Fastpack 350. Has to detach the 70-200 VR2 most of the time.
*
thanks for verifying. there's no choice but to bring 2 bags when travel. blush.gif

Always wonder how is the Samyang 8mm f3.5 fish eye compete against the Nikkor 10.5mm fish eye in terms of optical performance.

The Samyang cost a lot lesser.

the samyang no AF?

I can't find anywhere online. I guess only crumpler KLCC got sell. Cheap and confirm original. Call them to ask for availability before u visit, if no stock ask them when will stock arrive. then the next time call again to confirm stock.

since the crumpler strap hav sponge will it absorb sweat and turn smelly?
