am looking into Dell Zino HD as well. but have a few questions:

1. i dont see an option to remove the LCD monitor. if i dont want LCD monitor, how do i remove it from the dell web site & pricing?

2. Any big performance difference between Athlon II and Phenom II?

3. Can this computer be connected to HDReady 29" CRT TV? worried about the resolution might be shitty.

what is the screen resolution supported in dell zino? want to hook up my hdready crt tv to dell zino if possible, via a pc to tv converter (which supports up to 1600x1200 resolution).

coz my crt tv only have component/RCA video/S-video port. so i guess component cable shld give the best video quality in this situation. therefore the pc to tv converter is used to connect from my pc (or future dell zino) using vga port to component video

Why would you want to use the PC to TV convertor? I'm sure you would not have problems to connect directly. I believe the Zino can support resolutions up to and including 1920 x 1080.

when you connect dell zino hd to your lcd, can you see the words from your browser/desktop in the lcd clearly?

as mentioned before, i have a pc to tv converter connecting my laptop to crt to watch movies, but the words are barely readable in the crt tv.

CRT will not display clearly no matter what resolution you throw at them it is the limitation of CRT TV

LCD yes provided you match the LCD TV native resolution...

i'm asking what's the lcd native resolution?

my crt...no idea what's the native resolution...i tried to change my laptop resolution from 1920 to 1600 to all the way down to 800, still not clear. could be like what you said....crt is not meant to be connected with computers.

but watching movies is really not too bad.

Hello guys, just decided to post a bit about a recent purchase.

After contemplating getting a HTPC to connect to my living room screen, options were scarce. Custom-built or a Dell Inspiron Zino HD which costed RM999 for the base model.

So I went to Digital Mall to see what I can custom build, but ending up getting poisoned by the superior performance of the ASRock.

Here are some pictures.

My inventory. ASRock HT-100, 2x2GB Mushkin Enhanced 1333MHz DDR3, 1x500GB WD Scorpio Blue 5400rpm, Rapoo 2900 Touch wireless keyboard & mouse combo.

Contents of the ASRock's box. The PC itself, power adapter, DVI to VGA, documentation, extra connector cables, anti-slip pad for placing on your desk, and the media center remote.

The Rapoo Touch 2900 keyboard. Minimalist design & packaging.

Keyboard.

So far this unit has been really good to me. Tried playing performance-intensive games like Need for Speed: Shift & Need for Speed: Carbon, nothing short of excellent performance. Viewing movies is really great too - somehow it manages to fit the input video to a 720p resolution.

One problem though, I don't know how to push it (the resolution) to 1080p.

So, yup, there you go. A happy customer.  icon_rolleyes.gif

EDIT: Noticed the pictures are a little big, if anyone knows how to resize with BBcode, please do tell me. And disregard the watermark, it was added in Lightroom batch processing  blush.gif

Apart from Dell Zino HD and ASRock who produce complete build up of HTPC, is there any other PC manufacturer that produce HTPC?

am lazy to assemble to HTPC myself. looking for a complete build up unit.

I'm using Dell Zino HD pretty good, I got my self the Bluray version

Does Zino get refreshed/update with new hardware every year? I think the current Zino has been released for some time already. I think Zino was released in 2009 and Zino HD in 2010? So there could be a chance that new Zino might be released end of the year or next year.
