Yes Dell Zino has build in Receiver the remote is optional RM35!!!

The cheapest package I want do not even have that remote option available cry.gif . I guess I need to call them after placing order. I wonder does all dell zino packages got the built in IR receiver or not.

They should really make their online ordering system more flexible. Sometimes got some items I want in the most expensive (BR drive) but I don't need the extra HDD space. sweat.gif

Cheapest package dont have just add the remote RM35 super chip wei outside this remote easily cost RM100++ quality is AWESOME!! very solid!!!

if you bought just call dell to add it in!!!

One thing I always trust Dell's build quality, they are way better compared to other vendors.

So after I place my order online, I can call them to customize further ya? Just qoute my sales order number? I don't really need the monitor, I would want to upgrade the drive to a BR-drive + remote and remove the monitor option.

For a while i thought the remote has some super chip inside lol. I agree that RM 35 is really good price, for a branded RC for WMC. even those ciplak Astro remote cost more than 10 bucks in Tesco laugh.gif .

All the new zino should have at least the IR receiver right? Later I got remote but don't have receiver pulak susah sweat.gif

At least now I know I don't need to get a RF keyboard. PC maintainence can easily be done with Remote desktop connection.

As I know Dell Zino 410 has 7.1 connection via HDMI and Optical Out... I cannot try it as my system only uses coaxial at the moment (saving money to upgrade my surround)

so yes it can support DTS MA and Dolby True HD and the sound board is THX certified (it obtain with some creative chipset)

so YES pretty much can go with 7.1/5.1/2.1 options all the way...

I will post my review of my dell zino tomorrow... (you tube upload too slow @ home I try to upload at the office tomorrow)

Yes it can handle but 1 thing, if you wanted to watch US movies/channel you need US IP address... and yeah it is posibble if you can get US ip address...
so... any advise on how to GET United States IP...

There's actually a registry which you can change in order to get Internet TV. Check out this link below on how to do that.

Interesting review but can further confirm it can play back Dolby TrueHD & DTS-MA? If it can then it is indeed a very good choice.

But this is what i found (may current model can support?).

The link you posted is about Dell Zino 400. The one available in Dell which can do all these things is Dell Zino 410

Now, I did not have a multichannel receiver connected so I cannot really comment on the audio capabilities during BD playback.  However, similar to our RS780 chipset, the AMD RS880M chipset is limited to 5.1 DD, DTS compressed audio and therefore would not playback Dolby True HD or DTS Master level audio.  However, Dell does have an answer for that with the option to upgrade the graphics to the Radeon 5450 GPU when placing your order.  This not only gives you the option to 7.1-channel audio but also gives a nice bump in performance on the graphics so you can enjoy 3D gaming on your Insprion Zino HD.

Do bear in mind that 7.1 is achieved through HDMI

Need help on XBMC, nobody on the xbmc forums could help so i hope you guys can icon_question.gif

I'm using XBMC to play back MKV files with embedded subs (and also external ass & srt files) and they seem to appear all over the screen (Top, left, right, bottom of screen). They seem to be squeezed and flattened as well, making them unreadable. Any idea whats going on? I have already reformatted my XP machine but still same problem.

OS: Windows XP Pro 32 bit
XBMC version : 10.0
Shark codec installed. Tried k-lite but same problem.

Tried the video file in MPC and VLC, no problem.

I face no problem in using XBMC with my win7 notebook though. It plays beautifully on it.

And XBMC always freezes when I try to search at network drives (SMB).

Any ideas? icon_question.gif

I already tried video calibration but no difference.

hmm.gif ... i've been using xbmc quite awhile now.. i've  played mkv files with it before and have not encountered problems with the subs...

Does the problem happen in general to all your mkv videos ? have u tried with another mkv video different ripper/subber.. some mkvs come embedded with subs.. u might want to try removing those srts when using embedded or reverse...

Try removing those codec packs and  re-install xbmc.. i never install these codec packs... the standard xbmc is able to play all files without them

Im using version 10 as well, but i might have watched my mkv files on a earlier version ... trying downgrading to version 9..

Let us know the result...

Tried it, still have that problem. At wits end now sad.gif. It happens to SRT subs as well, I tried xbmc 9.1 and still got the same issue. Boxee wouldn't even play the video at all!

I'm using Win XP Pro, any idea how to install Windows Media Center without reinstalling/reformatting Window Media Center Edition?

cannot remember but my dell zino spec now a little outdated... the alienware is damn latest and not expensive.. it updated some of the design flaws like a slot load bluray as Dell Zino uses tray load bluray which is a little funny for htpc... others include uses intel which is cooler than AMD and uses the latest nvidia which support full 3D bluray and 3D games... I think it is good choice since we are moving into 3D TV and can guarantee alienware is fully compatible

Yeah only bad thing about the x51 is the back uses a mini-hdmi port, so u need to get a converter....
And I wish it supports a HDMI pass through, so that I can use 1 keyboard to switch between my Unifi STB and HTPC... (and this eliminate the need to get a audio switch)

Still if you're planning to sell ur zino..drop me a pm tongue.gif
