*
i think ur card should support HD playback. maybe u need some tweaking on ur media player.
let the gpu do the decoding.

Wann to understand the following
Hdmi output from bd player-
1. Carries video signal
2. Carries audio signal

Is the audio signal digital or analog signal?
Does video signal needs to be converted to analog?
*
all signal in HDMI is digital.
digital audio signal will be converted to analog in ur TV or AVR for sound production.
video signal will be process in ur TV to be displayed.

Right, great idea.. lets see if I can find long enough vga cable. Thanks.

Ok I check of this thread https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/815300
There is also this High Grade Gold Plated HDMI Female-to-DVI Male adapter - RM17, so since my mother board have DVI and D-sub, can I use both monitor at same time, ie

DVI > HDMI Female-to-DVI Male > HDMI > My TV
D-sub > my normal computer monitor,

Like extended monitor, so you can still use the computer while watching movie at TV?
*
i got 5 meter Dsub/VGA cable. unused. to long for my setup.. bought another shorter one.
if u interested.

for multiple monitor, u have to check ur mobo/graphic 1st, support dual display or not.
usually supported if DVI with VGA or HDMI with VGA.
mine HDMI with DVI not supported.

I see, no wonder i cant figure out how to make HTPC communicate with Astro if without TV Tuner card.

Sometime suddently i think to check what is broadcasting on Astro i will need to switch my LED TV channel (HDMI 1) to Astro (HDMI 2) and when switch back to HTPC channel the screen may gone and become blank, then i need restart HTPC in order to be able to see the screen on my LED TV again. So if i could watch Astro straight in XBMC then i do not need to switch TV channel.

Since TV turner card is required, so i think i wont do this way. Maybe change a new graphic card will solve my problem. Thank u for your reply.
*
what gc u using right now?
maybe u can go thru the gc setting and find some setting for force detect or something like that..

Thanks for your reply and your input. Really appreciate it and happy to not needing to spend money on maybe an intel thumb pc.

Honestly I don’t have a space restraint but would like some recommendation in regards of aesthetic reasons that looks good beside a tv and can fit a normal size gpu in regards of the back io.
*
can look for silverstone or cooler master htpc casing.. surely nice aesthetic.
im using silverstone mATX square case. fit nicely in my current TV cabinet.

Yeah.. last time around 1k+ already can build htpc (not for gaming).
Now even video decoding also need powerful cpu or gpu.
