I use foobar2000 to play some of the 24 bit 96kHz FLAC using WASAPI exclusive mode, however whenever I play, only the first song has sound, it will get silent once I proceed to the next song, or I pause and restart back the first song. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and Intel Core i3 integrated HD Audio

hi i am newb here, been searching through the forum but cant find a good answer
I am planning to build a HTPC using my old pc connect to new LED TV my Rigs: E6600, 3GB RAM, Sapphire HD 4850 Now my problem is : 1. Could my 4850 output sound at TV via its DVI to HDMI output ? since my sapphire 4850 only got 2 DVI output, i planning to use the DVI to HDMI converter to enjoy the 1080p quality Sample output port of my GC ![]() 2. If No.1 is not possible to output audio via DVI, what else can i do ? This post has been edited by hvaly: Dec 6 2010, 03:19 PM |

According to the specs of HD4850, with HDMI adapter you'll be able to get 7.1ch audio

Can anyone with the similar setup as mine help to validate, I'm wondering is it because of the OS problem or HDMI issue...

QUOTE(chokia @ Dec 6 2010, 03:59 PM) According to the specs of HD4850, with HDMI adapter you'll be able to get 7.1ch audio let assume managed to get the compatible dvi-to-hdmi adapter and able to get out 7.1 sound.Source: http://www1.sapphiretech.com/cr/products/p...ew.php?gpid=244 but I can confirm 4 series only can do 7.1 PCM. HD Audio Bitstream is not possible. IMHO, I will sell out the 4 series card (I have 4850 before too), then get 5 series card since now are very cheap. (since 6 series are out already, I assume you're serious HTPC freak but not hardcore gamer) |

Has anybody done the comparison between ATI 5450 vs Intel Clarkdale performance in terms of PQ and SQ ?

Yeap I'm using Hybrid i3 Graphics which I can switch to the clarkdale build in graphics and I'm using a Dell Zino which uses ATi 5450...
did a comparison... even a Nvidia310M cant beat 5450.... if intel can beat 5450 and nvidia 310m I'll chop of me head!!!! Added on December 13, 2010, 9:47 amOh by the way since when intel is good in graphics.... This post has been edited by calvin_ng: Dec 13 2010, 09:47 AM |

Although I did not compare side or side before...
for me, if I only have option either Intel Clarkdale and ATI 5450. I definitely go for ATI 5450 because I don't trust Intel can beat both ATI or NVIDIA in 3D game performance... show me if got result sharing. Maybe Sandy Bridge will make it different, let wait for next year and search for review if any... This post has been edited by djlah: Dec 13 2010, 01:05 PM |

But if you plan to make your HTPC to multiboot OSX then choosing Intel - nvidia combination will save you a lot of panics (kernel panic that is) LOL

I think both support 1080p playback... the HD 7.1 sound of DTS-MA and Dolby True HD only ATi 5450 support but I dont think intel graphics support... but I could be wrong...
