QUOTE(paskal @ Sep 21 2010, 09:56 AM) i'm guessing you're gonna run into lots of problem if you still go on with your plans to go with the HTPC route. htpc requires lots of technical knowledge and is not for everyone. IMO you should seriusly consider the dune. 1. similar performance. tho amd + ati takes more heat and more power compared to i3. and i3 have less 3d performance from its internal graphics. 2. i bought it from garage sales. lots of links given in pages before this. 3. yes. tmt3 have a mini player that works wonderfully with wmc first time i hear about nvidia chip that could bitstream. a new line i presume. and quick search on the net reveals that bitstream has some quirks that nvidia needs to sort out with the drivers. Launching TMT3 using the default MCE Media Library is ok but when using Media Browser, it will not launch the TMT3 and it will give 'Unsupported file format'...

Have you tried config the media browser (newer version is available now it seems) to use external player for bluray format?

very interesting discussion here.
im want to set up new htpc, but wondering the power cosumption.. currently using hd media player which i think use 65w power adapter and im very happy with my electricity bill.
if my future htpc setup use i3, 1 harddisk, bd drive, 1 pci card and no gc.. what would be the ideal power?
thanks!

QUOTE(stan001 @ Sep 6 2010, 07:45 PM) I found this cool HTPC Nettop on Alibaba from iWill company.. ION Based Nettop with Atom 330 Dual Core + Nvidia 9400M http://iwill.en.alibaba.com/product/335000...ION_nettop.htmlIt cost like US$180 per pieces ( board, power supply, chasis ) and they need minimal of 2 pcs of sample.. ( WITHOUT laptop RAM & 2.5" HDD )... Anyone interested to do bulk order & share the shipping cost... the more ppl sharing, the lower the shipping cost... This looks like a pretty small & powerful HTPC that looks like the mac mini... i found this, pricelist for asrock core and ion from imbi shop. but no price?? asrock core 100ht-bd look very promising. http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?opti...d=543&Itemid=69

Hi Paskal, to be precise, it's more like the ati app will reset the scaling bck to the old setting or something like that upon resetting or restarting your pc. to recall back the setting, just need to launch the program, which to me is a hassle. it's a known issue in 10.8. if you do a google about scaling resetting, ther's quite a few of them complaining. but funny thing is, it doesnt effect some ppl as i've noticed. i started using 10.8 and hav no clue if 10.6 have issues or not. Just would like to know if there's any improvement in comparison to the older drivers, in terms of movie PQ. if there's improvement why wanna stick to the old drivers right since it's free. but if the older ones like the 10.6 have vast improvements albeit an older driver, i will not hesitate to remove and re-install the older driver. cheers!

hi Pap,
which revision driver are you using? based on the useful article posted by LightAstral, seems like 10.6 and above only have those functions.
