hi ppl, would like to know more about the TV Tuner card. What can we do with this in Malaysia???

can we get to watch astro? or maybe watch astro in HD???
or we can just watch and record regular TV channels like RTM1 RTM2???
Because i read somewhere, they said in overseas, they get to watch cable tv and record cable tv.
Do we get those in Malaysia??

Other than Leadtek brand, do we have other good brands that do have TV Tuners?

Anyone over here owns one of these things?? mind help me sorting this out?

TV Tuner card doesn not sync with Astro Byond. Beyond is completely new range of broadcasting, compared to current Astro Stand Def.

Have you actually seen a TV Tuner Card?

For people in Europe & Americas, they have sort of services where you can view the pay per view / pay as you go Channels in HD, not SD..here the sort of service will probably in another century!!

Dont compare EU / Americas with Asia especially our country!

analogue tuner card can receive TV1/2/3 NTV7 TV9 TV8 + FM radio off the air
dvb-t tuner card can receive RTM's digital TV test broadcast in KL
dvb-s tuner card can receive digital satellite TV in standard resolution
dvb-s2 tuner card can receive sat TV in HD resolution

im suppose u need super high speed internet to stream those hd movies aye

You need it, moderately, for home users , you probably get 1mbps , good enough..for streaming..

Yes, you can..., but only for unencrypted channel...
for astro, surely cannot.... Astro HD channels is encrypted + HDCP enabled...

any TV card will do...
at least it have composite or s-video input and stereo audio input, you're on the go....
but you can only record in SD quality...
as the input sources also in analog quality...
and make sure you buy the ANALOG TV CARD... not the digital one (DVB)...

first you need to install your TV Card on the PC.., it depends on the type of TV Card...
Whether external or internal one... For external you just need to connect it to the USB Port
For internal you need to install inside your PC on the PCI or PCI Express slot...
Then connect astro using composite or s-video cable to your tv card...
S-Video gives you more superior (not so actually ) PQ than using composite...
and for sound.., you just connect the white and red RCA Stereo cable to your TV Card...
Then, Use any software that can capture video from TV Card (I commonly used Cyberlink PowerDirector).

it depends on what sources you're currently record at that time...
If you're record from standard antenna that is connected direct to the TV Card.., yes,, you can switch channel directly from the tv card as that card itself act as TV Tuner...

But If you're record from Astro.., you need to change the channel on the decoder....
