yup astro people mess it up big time, temporary fix is to set your byond box to pillar box, then if your HDTV is capable, let it stretch it out

some SD channels program such as HistorySD actually broadcast in 16:9, but it was then converted by astro to be in 4:3, so you will have top/bottom/left/right black bar, this sort of convoluted channel is most suited to use stretch mode, did anyone notice that? you will get a nice HD-like 16:9 full screen output with proper height and width display on screen when stretched out.

yes, I think this is probably the best way. But unfortunately, when you stretched it, the picture become blur. Because they are send 4:3 of info.
But you stretch it to display in 16:9 info. Anyway, this one is better than stretched the other type of SD.

SD channel can actually be braodcasted in 16:9 ratio, one example is german's free sat channel DW-TV, this channel is in 16:9 + SD, so astro should get proper 16:9 + SD feed from History channel network

@BelowAverage

you may need to connect component video cable to your HDTV and switch your TV to it to view full-screen SD channel

as for live football on HD channels, I think they are actually live

what's wrong with leaving the Zoom option alongside the stretch?

in fact why not justify (whatever that is), stretch, zoom1, zoom2 and zoom3 like my TV has

do you think there is enough NVRAM inside byond box to put in all these software codes?
